Ok so all you MOMs and MOM-to-be, I need some help!!! I'm curious on a few things from those that have been there/done that. I feel like my nesting phase has kicked in, so I'm looking for some help.
1. Did you wash all the clothes in their closet, or did you wait? Do you just wash the newborn stuff? 2. How many outfits and different sizes did you bring for the take home outfit? 3. How many, if any, preemie stuff did you buy? 4. Was there anything in your hospital bag that you wish you had or really glad you had? 5. Did you put your twins in the same crib? For how long?
My twins are still newbs but hopefully this is helpful!
1. Did you wash all the clothes in their closet, or did you wait? Do you just wash the newborn stuff? Yes, I washed everything from Newborn to 3-6 Months because I figured it would be easier to have everything ready to wear than worry about washing when we got home. 2. How many outfits and different sizes did you bring for the take home outfit? We only brought two NB size onesies for their hospital pictures and two NB sized sleep n plays for the ride home. They were a tad big on our daughter who was 5lbs 15 oz at birth, but not enough for us to buy smaller. She's already filling out her outfits more at two weeks! 3. How many, if any, preemie stuff did you buy? I had them at 38 weeks and have not purchased anything preemie sized, we started off right in NB. 4. Was there anything in your hospital bag that you wish you had or really glad you had? Honestly the hospital provided pretty much everything except a hair brush-- the first two days I was in my gown (I had a c/s) and then it was nice to shower and put my own clothes on for the next day and a half, but it wasn't a necessity for me. I did bring my own toiletries but they also provided soap and shampoo. I would pack lots of snacks because hospital food portions are tiny! 5. Did you put your twins in the same crib? For how long? Right now they are in Rock and plays next to our bed and soon will move into the pack n play with bassinets attached in our room. We do have two cribs in the nursery but they won't move in there for a few months.
1. i washed everything that we had so we were ready to go once we were in that size.
2. I brought one long sleeve onesie each for their take home outfits in newborn size. They were big on them but I just folded up the sleeves. Mine were 6lb2oz and 5lb8oz at 38w. It didn't take long for them to fit, maybe two weeks?
3. I didn't get any preemie stuff. I figured I could get some if I ended up needing them.
4. I packed a lot of stuff in my hospital bag and ended up not using most of it. I'd say make sure you have an outfit or two to change into and for going home and some toiletries. I used the hospital soap/shampoo. I did have some dry skin issues so I had to send Dh home for my lotion.
5. mine have been in separate cribs in their own rooms since day 1. The only time we put them together was for the pictures. Well, ok, the first two weeks they slept in their bouncy chairs in the living room and I slept on the couch with them. They would freak out every time we tried to lay them in their cribs so it took us about two weeks for them to get used to sleeping on the crib.
1. Did you wash all the clothes in their closet, or did you wait? Do you just wash the newborn stuff? I washed through 3 months, plus all blankets, burp rags, sheets, etc.
2. How many outfits and different sizes did you bring for the take home outfit? I have a few sleep gowns and sleepers packed, a take home outfit for each and an extra outfit. DS never changed out of hospital onesies until we left.
3. How many, if any, preemie stuff did you buy? None. I had a onesie pack but gave it to our neighbors daughter who had premie twins a couple weeks ago.
4. Was there anything in your hospital bag that you wish you had or really glad you had? A robe and slippers was essential to me for DS and are the first thing I packed this time. I just bought a thin, short cotton robe from target and it was perfect for throwing over hospital gowns and tanks. DS was in the nicu so I wanted to feel more covered walking the halls.
5. Did you put your twins in the same crib? For how long? Not planning on it. I have RNPs for them and then they have their own cribs when they are ready for them. If they seem to sleep better together then I'll pull out the PNP and let them sleep in the bassinet part together.
I'm an anti-nester, with both pgs. MH is the one who did everything, haha.
1. Twins were born at 34w, so I just washed preemie and NB and did that a couple days before they came home from the nicu. Burp rags, blankets and sheets washed too.
2. Well, I brought one NB and one preemie bc I thought I was only brining one baby home but when I got to the nicu that day, they told me I could take both of them! So I used both.
3. I had a few preemie things from my singleton (he was born at 37w1d and wore preemie for a couple weeks) but the twins stayed in preemie for 6w, so I needed more. I really like sleep n plays for newbs, so I had maybe 10-12?
4. This depends on your hospital. When I had my singleton, the hospital was great and provided everything. When I had the twins, the toiletries they gave you sucked balls, so I wanted my stuff.
Flip flops and/or shower shoes are always good though.

1. I washed most of it, just because we had time. Getting laundry done is hit or miss these days, I have a 3y old plus the twins.
2. I brought a few. My girls were born both 6lb 9oz (born 38w4d) when they came home, wearing NB.
3. I had a sleeper. Didn't need it, but my babies were born "full term" for twins.
4. We really didn't need a lot, the hospital we went to provided so much. I was glad to have snacks though, and DH brought his tablet and I played music on that (didn't want to watch TV, and the music helped me sleep).
5. They had separate bassinets. After DH's vacation ended (babies were 3w) they did sometimes nap together in the PNP. They also slept together in our room in a PNP for awhile, but once they started rolling we stopped that. Honestly, I can't tell you how many times one of my twins woke early from a nap and woke the other one by jumping on her. I know some people have their twins cosleep with each other but I don't know how they get any sleep lol... Maybe it's just my twins that are so rough? lol
1. Did you wash all the clothes in their closet, or did you wait? Do you just wash the newborn stuff?
We didn't buy anything until they were here. My mom was awesome and washed clothes as the Amazon and Carter's boxes arrived. Now every item in their closet had been washed.
2. How many outfits and different sizes did you bring for the take home outfit?
I bought one for each of them. Little Burt's Bee's t-shirts and diaper covers. They were newborn size. My twins were 7lbs1oz and 6lbs11oz at birth.
3. How many, if any, preemie stuff did you buy?
None.
4. Was there anything in your hospital bag that you wish you had or really glad you had?
I got a light cotton nightgown and ribs set from Kohls. I was really glad to have a lightweight robe to throw on.
5. Did you put your twins in the same crib? For how long?
No. We have mini cribs from Pottery Barn. They would both fit in one easily right now, but thry don't seem to care about each other much lol so they haven't shown us a preference to be nearby. They are very much separate entities. We did put them in a crib together just to see what they'd fo- and baby girl just screamed in baby boys face and he stared at her confused.. They sleep in RnPs right now. Thank goodness for them!!

This made me LOL It's nice to know that not all twins come out with the cute hand holding you see on the internet. I am not putting a lot of work into their room because I don't know how long they will be together. People think I'm crazy but our thinking was that we don't know if they will like being together or not and they might be separated sooner rather than later! So why push ourselves now?
I'm going to try a pack n play first but have another one lined up just in case!
1. Did you wash all the clothes in their closet, or did you wait? Do you just wash the newborn stuff? Just NB and a couple preemie. 2. How many outfits and different sizes did you bring for the take home outfit? I brought one NB and one preemie outfit for each baby. 3. How many, if any, preemie stuff did you buy? My cousin sent me 4 preemie outfits and then another friend sent me a box of her little guy's outgrown preemie stuff. 4. Was there anything in your hospital bag that you wish you had or really glad you had? Mmm, nothing out of the ordinary. 5. Did you put your twins in the same crib? For how long? Yes, until we were done swaddling (so they wouldn't roll into each other and interfere with each other's breathing). For them, that was 6 months.

Mine didn't even seem to notice each other for the longest time, want to say 4 months. Even then it was slow and gradual.
Those who have bought preemie outfits, where did you get them? I know Carter's carries them, anywhere else you'd recommend?
Target is where I found a lot of stuff for mine, and my mom got them these fleece sleepers from Wal-Mart that were great when we brough them home from the NICU. We honestly didn't get any preemie stuff though until it became clear (my water broke at 31 weeks and I was in the hospital for a week before they were born) that we would be having preemie babies, and even then there was plenty of time before they needed stuff in the NICU.

Haha just keeping it real! We forced some sibling love at their newborn shoot so that's a nice memory!

This is mine as well. I don't think they really cared for one another until they were mobile and at that point it was only to steal whatever toy the other had. I will say that around 18months-2 years was when they really started to play well together and get each other snacks/sippies.
