So Declan came home from school today with really red cheeks and very loose stool with diaper rash. I didn't think to much of it until I got his daily update which shows that they had cookies and dip for special snack today. (every Friday a parent brings in a special snack for the whole class). Now I'm suspecting that there were eggs in the cookie which is what has caused the rash/diarrhea. So of course I'm over reacting and getting myself pissed off. 1) What would you classify as cookies and dip? Like graham crackers and frosting?
2) How would you handle this with the school? Due to D's allergies I have asked them not to give him anything that I didn't bring or approve of in advance. I didn't want to make them responsible for checking ingredients. The classroom is labeled as egg and peanut free, but quite frankly I don't trust other parents to be overly cautious of things. So whether there are eggs or not in the cookies, I'm pissed that they are feeding him food with out my approval. And if there are eggs in it, that opens a whole other box of can I trust these people with my kid.
If you specified to ask before they give him anything that you didn't provide. Yes, I would be upset too. I would ask what was given at school, and once again remind them to give him nothing without asking first. You can probably even keep snacks there, so he can have an alternative snack.

He has an egg allergy or intolerance?
I'd be upset. If you told them not to give him food, specifically for that reason, it's not just a personal preference. It's a legit medical reason. It'd be hard to pinpoint if it was eggs from cookies probably, but I'd definitely ask and then remind them either way. Keep the communication open between yourself and the ones caring for you LO!
I don't know what dip for cookies would be. Maybe vanilla wafers and something?
heather6789 he has an egg allergy. His first day we had discussed not giving him anything I didn't review and I had told her that I will bring snacks for him everyday. It's weird because yesterday she had asked me about food with egg in it, because they were having waffle sticks for snack and I told her we completely avoid anything containing egg at this point. I may be over reacting and she checked first to make sure they didn't contain egg, but I can't stop my brain now.
I called DH and was like that's it, we are pulling him from this place. I can't trust them. I know I'm being ridiculous but I'm feeling very mama bear right now.
I would be pretty upset that they aren't following your guidelines to keep your child healthy and happy. No one wants to have a child with restrictions to food, but when it happens your child care provider should be supporting you and your child. I'm sorry this happened and D has to deal with the side effects. I would definitely bring it to the teacher's attention. I would do what ninnin said and bring alternatives for my child to snack on.
lia1303 sorry just saw that you bring snacks. I understand the mama bear in you! Maybe D got a piece from another child and no one realized. (Just a thought, not trying to defend anyone)
slap8out, I would understand that, but they had it on his daily report sheet so it was definitely a conscious decision to give it to him. I think I'm more worried because he also has a peanut allergy. We only found out because of the blood test they did for the egg allergy so I have no idea how severe it is or what kind of reaction he might have. I'm so afraid that he may get near something that has peanuts in it and have an issue. The pediatrician gave us an epipen just in case, but it freaks me out.

I would ask her about it before you assume it is egg-related. Maybe she did check, it was egg-free, and he is teething or something. Or maybe he got into something else. I understand feeling upset- I would be too- but I would talk to her first.
I would talk to the teacher and remind her not to feed anything you don't bring. Honestly I would even be tempted to talk to the supervisor. Because you are providing alternative snacks there is no reason they should have given your child unapproved cookies.

I would be upset too and make the same conclusions you are. But before I pulled him, I would ask the teacher about it. Maybe she thought it was egg free and needs to be reminded he can't have anything you don't bring.
So apparently I overreacted. The app allows the teacher to put in a class wide snack and she forgot to take Declan off that list. She's says he only had the snack I brought.

I can understand why you would be on your guard though. Allergies can be serious. At the very least it just reminded everyone, including his school, to be mindful
