Hey Guys,
First off I want to apologize for not being as active as I would like here lately. I do have to say I come on here often, but because we are still waiting I don't often feel like I have much to contribute. So I wanted to put that out there first.
And now I am wanting to share with people who have hopefully been in my shoes. We have been approved and waiting since April for a match for a child 0-6 years through our local CAS. On Friday we got an email about a potential match for a baby to be born the end of August. The background information is rather intensive, with BM suffering from fairly significant addictions, and ultimately impacting many of her life choices. This is her third baby, and the other two children have been adopted since infants by the same adoptive family. BM contacted the pregnancy counsellor through CAS to develop an adoption plan for this baby. She has disclosed drug use, and some alcohol consumption(mind you her disclosure of alcohol sounds rather limited, but still a disclosure). Since the time she contacted CAS, she has gone MIA and currently her whereabouts is unknown. DH and I are going to meet with the agency workers this Thursday to gather some more information and hopefully be able to speak with the other adoptive family. I have to say my mind has been swimming since Friday with so many questions and thoughts going through my head.
So my question to anyone who may have been through this type of placement. What are some questions you would be wanting to ask to help make an informed decision? What are some questions you did ask, or wished you had asked during the early stages of information gathering? I truly appreciate any thoughts. I also welcome any PM from those who may have been through this before. I know this is our first potential match situation, and by far not a done deal, but it has been a roller coaster of emotions!
