My immediate challenge is finishing my meal plan and getting my groceries today. Otherwise I am finishing a course of prednisone and it is not helping my night time snacking. Hopefully fruit will satisfy my night time sweet tooth tonight. Oh and H is always my challenge- he bought donuts over the weekend and cookies and sugary cereal, but I believe he got up and went to the gym before work today so maybe he will hop on this bandwagon with me!
I finally watched fed up last night and I'm all in!
My first challenge is I'm going to make chicken pot pie, and make my own crust with whole wheat flour and coconut oil. But there is sugar in chicken broth and my chicken base I usually use so I think I'm just going to do with out the chicken broth and just substitute water I guess.

Our work gets a huge box of fruit delivered on the first of the monthish. Guess what arrived today! I just stashed a huge amount of snacks for this week...
I kinda started yesterday. The only thing with added sugar I had was a piece of left over pizza. I feel absolutely terrible today and of course I cant get the boys to nap at the same time so I can nap too.

I'm crabby. I want soda. All the flavored drinks in the world. Because I'm working on door schedules. The most boring thing known to man in the architectural world. Sigh. I may have to start over tomorrow. I have a feeling I might fail today. No amount of bananas in my pockets might save me.

I think it is the being stuck at work and not having that arsenal of options that is getting me! I have 1.2 hour to go then I'm stuck in the car for 1/2 an hour then off to look at houses for 2 hours. So I can hang in there. Ugh. I need to prep better for tomorrow. No sweets today thusfar. Went for nuts for my snack and plain tea for my "flavored" beverage. Tomorrow I need to bring more options for my snack drawer.

La Croix water saves me when I want a pop.
I already cheated today with a cookie. I'm just going to move on and continue. It's a process, right? Other than that I've been good. I didn't plan my lunch very well and that's when I had my cookie breakdown.

But I'm going to add - day 8 of gluten free 99% success (I've had 2 slips with bread). I passed up mini donuts, pretzels, cheese curds and all the fair food this weekend at the carnival. And no beer. I'm pretty proud.
Yes, please join bliz1712! I know checking in is helping me stay accountable.
If you cheated a little bit today, remember tomorrow is a new day to start fresh. Knowing where added sugars are hidden in foods is just as important to me as maintaining the sugar-free challenge. It's a learning experience.
I did a lot of prep yesterday since it was Sunday, so I hope that I don't run out of food by the end of the week! I hear you on the planning somethingcleverer. That's my weakness, too.
Way to go on your GF choices xanthepants! That is something to be proud of for sure. Have you noticed any effects on your migraines or do you think it's too soon to tell?
How did the chicken pot pie turn out nursedesi? I usually use the chicken bullion cubes, but after reading all the junk in them, I think I'll stop even after the challenge.
I don't think I'm going to be joining this. I'm doing the 21 day fix so I'm going to stick to one program so I'm not super overwhelmed. Good luck to all!

I didnt end up making it today. But i will Wednesday and let you know! I did find swansons chicken stock has no sugar added just fyi
I also had a slip up! I had to feed my mom, gma, SIL and her kids tonight with no notice. Damn imitation crab meat even has added sugar!
heatherbee, I started on Monday with another round of 21 day fix also. How is it going? The fix is kind of the same concept, it's cutting out most added sugars as well.

How did everyone do today? I had a rough patch around 1-2pm today and really wanted a diet coke but made it through. I bought some hamburger buns and I know that they have sugar so I'm trying to talk myslef into a plain burger tonight. I did buy the buns with the lowest amount of sugar that I could find.

It's going pretty good. I have stuck to it about 95% of today. I had two starburst though lol. I also haven't found a coffee alternative I like and I need coffee so that's been a struggle. I get it with flavoring and milk, but I can't get used to coffee with no flavor added to it. I'm hoping to lose about 5-8 pounds and tone up some so we will see. I always eat pretty well during the week - weekends kill me so I'm trying hard to get better about that.

I was just coming on to check in somethingcleverer! Good job working through your pop craving!
Today was pretty good. I was craving something sweet/chocolately last night, so I got on Pinterest for a challenge-friendly idea. So today I made a smoothie that really hit the spot--milk, frozen bananas, coco powder, natural PB, vanilla extract. Pretty rich tasting, almost like a milkshake.
Anyone noticing that they get sweet cravings at a certain time or that are tied to emotional eating? I find that I tend to want my sweets at night (as a way to wind down after the day or reward myself for surviving another day) or during the kids nap when I'm finally alone. Maybe it's tied to boredom. It's not even that I'm hungry, I just want the treat!
Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty good. I feel satisfied after meals and haven't felt that gross, overeat feeling I get when I have too much "bad" foods. I'm eating more protein for snacks, so I think that's helping me feel fuller longer. Another win, while I'm not making D do this challenge with me (like that would work!), he is surprising me by liking a lot of the foods I'm eating (plain yogurt, that smoothie, and dinner tonight, a chicken quinoa and vegetable mixture in lettuce). I've also been trying to limit his fruit snack consumption!
Have a recipe/meal that you're looking forward to trying or already made?

WE made burrito bowls yesterday and they were awesome! Crockpot Barbacoa beef, cilantro lime rice and pinto beans. I'm currently looking for some good salad dressing recipes on pinterest. I also found a turkey/sweet potato/ almond flour nugget I'm going to see if the kids eat.
heatherbee, lots of people in the challenge group I'm part of drink coffee.. There are free items you can have according to Autumn that are perfect for coffee. Pm me if you want more details, so I don't bombard the board here.
tribute17, Yup all sweeteners count. Get rid of all sweeteners, things like honey, molasses, syrups, agave etc. only things that you can keep are naturally occurring "sugars" within things like fruit.

Was just thinking... me and my mom like salsa burgers. Just a patty with cheese and salsa. We make pico de gallo at home from our garden!
Yesterday I had to entertain family again and ended up making a peach cobbler type dessert with oatmeal butter and ehite sugar. I had one little scoop instead of my usual heaping portion.
I think today I'm going to make spaghetti sauce in the crockpot. I'm kinda burned out on chicken.

I haven't been participating but once I get moved into my own house ( in August!!) I want to try! Living with my parents I find it hard to eat better. My mom usually cooks and both my parents love to buy treats and snacks!! I have no will power. Bu I find I'm good at not buying junk and if I don't have it, I won't eat it or go out for it.
