I admit both Lyric and Nova are guilty pleasure names of mine...
Haha, my husband was joking the other night about naming out little one Bandit. And then he said "Maybe since we're pretty sure we conceived on 2.00 margarita night we should go with Bandito." I'm still laughing
We have a friend who's brother and father are named Gunner. It's a family name passed down for them. I like it, although I wouldn't name our son it. Unsurprisingly it means "bold warrior"
I don't think this is the worst name, but it really made me roll my eyes when I heard it... Dante. Dante's inferno and Clerks come to mind and neither are something I want my son associated with
Madison for a guy. Did this used to be common? He was in his mid to late 20s. He's the person who rear ended us and every time I speak to insurance I have to be like "no, no, it was a man that hit me. Yes, Madison is a boy."
My cousins name is Madison - he is 19 so maybe it was popular at that time? Not sure. I don't find it odd but I guess it's because he is family and I'm so used to his name
Yes, Madison is a boy name. Yet another "son of" name stolen by females.
You beat me to it again!
I would think it would make sense to people that a name ending in -son literally means "son of" but I guess not.
We went against the grain and basically all opinions on the name board and our LO name ends in -son. However the name is meaningful to DH family (and it's not named after a person so defeats the "son of" point), but it's not just some random name we picked.
My old roommate named her son Malachi. Just like from children of the corn, but I don't know how it's spelled on there. She has never seen the movie. But every time I read his name it's like "mah-lah-chee" in my head. I just don't understand the spelling.
My cousin's son is Landyn, like someone mentioned. I believe changing the O to a Y changes how it sounds. Instead of Lan-done, it's more like Lan-din. But to each their own!
Really hurt me to see a name I love on this list. I can understand saying you don't like it or it is not your style, but to put it on a bad name list when it is a legitimate name using the correct spelling and has a nice meaning is just kind of uncalled for in my opinion.
This is just people's opinions, you can't control other people reactions to certain things. If you love it, I wouldn't let it bother you.
Nautika La-a (pronounced Ladasha) no for real, I worked in an inner city facility. La'Quandenesha (my daughters cousins name) Passion and Precious (twins no less) Dymond shit at least spell it right!

I'll just put it out there that if your name has punctuation in it, I probably won't like it. Ja'nay, for example. If anyone can think of a legit name containing an apostrophe I stand corrected! I haven't come across one yet.

I totally knew a J'nay in college. Ugh. I also hate consonant replacement. Jazmine, Kadence (lol), also went to HS with a Korrey and a Kody (brothers but not twins and both parents started with K as well)
PSA: don't do the Duggar thing! Siblings don't all need to start with the same letter! Especially if you have to invent a name or change the spelling to make it go (I'm glaring at Jinger)

Malachi is a beautiful, traditional name.
What's funny to me is I'm never familiar with any of the pop culture references that have "ruined" a name for some people. I don't watch many movies or much TVs and don't read popular fiction.
How is this name pronounced? When I first read it, it was Malaki in my head, but then I read the other pronunciation.

Last names?
I was thinking first names, I know a lot of last names use legit apostrophes. Can't think of any firsts though.
Oh! Oh! Also! A friend of mine's ex-gf has 4 girls, (periods added for unsearchability since I'm pretty sure no one else in the world has these names)
Illy.ana Jay.na and Seph.rina Aph.rael (twins) All.ura Rose-Jade, and lucky Eva Lynn who for some reason got the only name that doesn't sound like a Fantasy fiction character.

There probably are first names, but I think it's weird that a parent would choose an apostrophe in a first name. It's a big headache with computers. Some software is old and won't recognize foreign characters in a name. If the software accepts and apostrophe, it doesn't seem to alphabetize the name correctly. It's hard for people to look up our records sometimes. "I don't see your name here. ....... Does it have an apostrophe? Yes? ...... Oh, here it is."

I wouldn't say it hurts my feelings, I just found it odd. I love the name Adeline, and it is a legitimate name, spelled correctly. Was definitely in our top five.

Oh I am sure it is however I guarantee you in the large city I worked there was a little baby girl who's name was La-a, seen it with my own eyes, couldn't believe it either.

I figured it was one that was meant for boys but now is associated with girls (didn't think of the "son of" at the time...). I've honestly never met a male with the name until now. I guess neither have all the insurance people I've been speaking too. It has actually been causing them to question if he is the actual owner of the car/person insured. Society! Now I know
