I actually like the name Fox for a boy! I'm not name my kid that but I really like it haha.
I've thought about using Fox for a middle name if I ever had a boy because it's my maiden name but I don't know if I could actually do it.
I think if it's your maiden name it's totally legit as a middle name for a boy. I think it's really cute in the MN spot, actually, and the fact that it's your maiden name lets you get away with it
Was reminded of a ridiculous one today... Girl at work said her cousin named their baby River Weaver. And she's pregnant again. We had fun thinking of all of the names she could pair with it.
Basket would really have been better as a FN with Weaver as a MN...
I saw on the Glow app a woman that was pregnant and her choices were: Girl - Diesel Boy - Axel
I just can't, they both sound like dogs names at best.
Axel is my nephew's name. It's definitely NMS, but I would never say as much to my ILs. My SIL's H and his family are Mexican so I've wondered if there's a cultural significance there that I don't know of. I would ask, but we aren't super close and she's a bit touchy about people asking about the name or saying things like, "Axel? Like Axel Rose?"
Ok I have to add this-- a friend of mine was telling me at dinner tonight about two kids she taught at a Montessori preschool...the boy was named My'blessin and his sister was My'angel.
The best part was she said she didn't know if My'blessin was a boy or girl (he had really long hair) until they took them to the bathroom.
At work on Wednesday I saw a claim for E. Fuchs. I kept thinking what alternative pronunciation there might be for this last name....but all I kept coming up with was FUCKS.
I wonder if that's the E. Fuchs that I know! So random. Like the PP said, it's Few-ks.... Unfortunate looking though.

100% no to Diesel. Ever.
Axl Rose spells his name without the E and is derived from the initials of his first band. While Axel on the other hand is a very traditional Eastern European name that is quite common, and also happens to be the name we've chosen for our son. We are proud of our heritage and chosen it from our family tree, idk maybe the world needs more Ethan's, Wyatt's and Noah's, or names that are made up with no etymological roots or meaning?

So proud that you found it appropriate to attack others' name choices like that? The op literally said Axel was not her style. You can let it die there.

Wow. Just because they aren't your heritage, doesn't mean they are meaningless. Some people are proud of their religious heritage and consider Biblical names very meaningful.

FWIW, I'm sorry for any insensitivity about the name Axel my post might have conveyed to you, @redcafe. Like I said, it's just NMS personally and I'm not aware of why my SIL chose that name or the roots behind it.
However, I stopped short of insulting where it came from. The names that you mentioned do have meaning and roots. I think the ladies here have already covered that, though.

I didn't say the names I mentioned had no meanings or roots.
Can we just talk about the fact that she knows why Axl Rose has that name?
The bastardization of Axel just kills her that's why.
Oh it really does. Keeps me up nights. I'm actually BFF's with all the former members of the band. But that's not the reason I know about the spelling. I have photographic memory, it was a trivia question.

Selah can be pronounced that way and is a legitimate name.
I love the name Selah! And that is a proper pronunciation.
I love Selah. It's actually word in the Bible they're not even sure what it means. But it's thought to mean to "stop and think about it" or something like that, or maybe meditate on it. Idk I just love it I feel like it just has a lot of meaning even though they don't know the meaning. ...if that makes any sense.

I know I have seen it at the end of some Psalms...maybe it has something to do with meditating on what you just heard? Either way I'm with you on it--I think it's just lovely.

Selah doesn't have an English definition, so its meaning is impossible to translate and to explain. You just have to know the language and hear it in context, and then you'll understand. I don't know Hebrew well, but I usually hear it used for emphasis in prayer, like "Amen, selah!" or "All who hear His Name will rejoice, selah!" It's seems to be used at a really fervent point in prayers of praise to G-d and always sounds to me like a verbal exclamation point.
One of my good friends who is also pregnant now always said she would name her son Cash because it's her mom's maiden name. She is having a boy so I guess we'll see.

My 4 year old niece is named Selah, I absolutely love it. Such a pretty name!
