Suds in the door? Seems normal, at least mine always looks like that in our FLer with Tide powder. I usually run a full wash with no soap again to make sure all the suds are out, but I also have really hard water.
You're supposed to use 1/2 the amount of non-he detergent in an he machine. He detergents don't have as much sudsing agent. But hard water also suppresses bubbles. If using the regular amount of detergent and lots of rinsing works, do that. Otherwise try half and see if that works.

I think too many suds can damage the machine tho
Yeah, but too many suds is way more than that. I think the damage comes from the suds being forced up into the mechanics of the machine.
