I had a successful VBAC last July...I did nothing to prepare for it. Not sure if there is anything you can do to prepare. I was actually set up for a C Section because she was showing no signs of making an appearance, when she decided to come the day before the scheduled C Section. It went so smoothly and I am so glad I went for it. Best of luck to you!

I had a successful VBAC in August and also did nothing to prepare. If I would do it again I would re-read what you are allowed to do/not do in labor. I went into labor 9 pm ish and gave birth the next day around 5/6 pm ish. Had not eaten anything since dinner. If I had remembered that I wasn't going to get to eat/drink during labor I probably would have had some snacks and more water before I headed to the hospital. Just didn't occur to me at the time.
I had a vbac in November and I did hire a doula, which helped me feel like I had an advocate for myself and my husband. I also switched Drs and hospitals to a practice that was way more supportive and pro vbacs. I asked my doctor a lot about questions of how different situations could be handled for a vbac patient.

I had a VBAC-friendly doctor at a VBAC-friendly hospital, just not a VBAC-friendly vag, apparently.
If I had to do things again, I would have probably looked for a midwife instead of my OB, since her practice policy wouldn't let me go past my due date (I think liability kinda stuff).
