Normally I love Thursdays because they are my Fridays...this week not so much because it means vacation is nearing an end and I am sad to go back to work.
I'm soaking up all the time with lo and am currently cuddling him for a nap. I'm afraid he is going to be a disaster when I go back to work because he has had momma cuddles for basically every nap for two weeks but we will deal it was worth it!
I just bought a book on how to play with your baby because I feel like I'm failing miserably in that department. Lots of block tower building, singing and reading but I feel like we need some variety!

spikesmom - what book did you buy? I love that stuff, and I'm always looking for new ideas. I feel like most of my day consists of putting blocks in bowls and boxes and letting M dump them out. Repeat. Build block towers around the living room. Let M knock them down. Repeat.
spiraltheory I feel the same way! I bought "Games to play with babies" for my kindle app and "Baby Play (Gymboree)" as a paperback. I'm a sucker for parenting books and I hope these will give me some good ideas!
spikesmom Enjoy the rest of your vacation! I hope it goes by slowly.
We're doing a lot of block towers over here, too. Haha. Have you guys seen that idea on Pinterest where you put red, yellow, and blue paint into a ziploc bag, close it and tape it to the table, and let the kid move the paints around? I'm thinking about trying that. I think it's meant for toddlers, but I think LO might enjoy it.
Last night after elevating the mattress, we got 8 hours in the crib! (not in a row, there were 3 wake-ups... but still 8 hours. I'll take it!) I'm feeling a little better today, which is good because I have a lot to do around the house. Still blowing my nose every five seconds, though. Lol.
Hmmmm, need to get my kid some blocks. Although right now she is exploring the different textures... of the dog. It's amusing to watch her light up when the dog walks into her view. If she's on her belly, she'll try to maneuver his way. He's been fairly tolerant of her pats on the side and the paws. We have had to intervene when she reaches for his ears or tail. The dog is learning also to move his body parts to avoid her. He doesn't realize she is only about 1/5th his size.
I'll probably check this book out, too! We do a lot of rotating things but work is getting busy again. I'm very thankful he plays well by himself. I usually try to read at least 3 books or so a day but the last two weeks have been almost no book reading at all. We play with towers occasionally. He's mostly interested in crawling to areas he isn't allowed and taking our shoes to try and eat them.
He LOVES playing peek a boo. We will either play behind a wall or behind someone or pop up from behind somewhere and he giggles with delight. He looks and waits for us to pop out of a new spot its pretty fun for all involved actually.
Thankfully he still likes his jumperoo and exersaucer so he plays with those while I work/clean/whatever needs to be done between momma and liam time. I ask him questions all day long too and then answer for him.
"are you knocking down the blocks with mama?" ... "yes you are!" etc
Can someone catch me up on what happened on the May 15 board?
me too?
From what I've gathered, a handful of people went digging and worked to come up with the IRL identities of three of their board members, who also happen to be very active on the Parenting board. They had varying amounts of information on each person, but did find legit addresses and work info for at least one. It's not known what they planned to do with this info, but they were sharing it. Two people were banned, some others choose to leave and have their accounts deleted.
This has prompted me to lock down my fb a bit more and delete a lot of videos and pictures of M off of it.

Activities with babies ... I feel like I'm the worst at this. We talk all the time. But he also plays really well by himself, which is handy when we need to get things done. But we do play with blocks, go for walks, etc. He also goes to my BIL's and the neighbors a lot and gets tons of interaction with his cousin and our neighbors so that's fun to watch him with them.
So we keep hearing of more and more people who have gotten this stomach bug. I feel like we were patient zero. It's been awful. We haven't had it in 2 weeks and people are still getting it. I scrubbed our house from top to bottom a couple of times and people who haven't seen us or been to our house are getting it. I feel awful about it. Also LO still has terrible diarrhea thanks to the antibiotics. I can't wait until he's done with them. I've been so tempted to stop them. His poor bum is a mess. jjh1119 - you warned me about that, and man I thought I had it under control. He literally got a rash an hour after we posted about it the other day. Just crazy!
As for the May 15 madness. I'm perplexed as to why someone would be motivated to do that. Going to check my FB to ensure its on lockdown again.
Glad My FB is on mega lock down. Crazy, what the hell was the point of that anyway? I don't understand people.
All of this. I enjoy you ladies but have no desire to hunt up personal info. I just don't get how someone has that much time especially with a newborn.
I was working on my dice for math centers when LO melted down. I picked her up and the little snot launched off my lap and grabbed a cube and stuck it in her mouth. I then I had to fight her to get it out. Clearly the rest need to get done at school and I need to keep them there. I can't believe I didn't think about them being out near her.
I see gates going up in our house to keep her out of the office/craft room very soon.
ninergirl52, I hope his bum feels better soon. I hear letting his bum be out in the open for a bit helps, but maybe after his poops are done? Unless you can just hang out on a brown blanket outside for a bit

I really want to buy block towers, I feel like we do alot of reading, singing, dancing and explaining or describing things. Speaking of which, do you guys remember how I said Isaac watches a signing show all the time with MIL. Well just this week, he started signing things. We couldn't figure it out until I watched it the other day. He is signing some letters. H, K,S,A and L. I don't think he understands but it's pretty cool. He is also pointing to objects in the 100 first words book when we ask him which one it is. I want to do more crafty or artsy things. Research here I come!

Yes, I hear letting their little bums air out is good for them. We may do that this afternoon. Here's one for parent of the year. I put my kid in a plastic grocery bag today! While LO was in his high chair we heard a big splash and he just blew out and watery stuff was leaking every-which-where from his diaper. So DH scooped him up, I grabbed a plastic bag and stuck is little legs in it (up to his waist) and DH ran him up to the shower. It was dripping everywhere. Poor little guy!
Oh man ninergirl52! Your description has me cringing and laughing at the same time! Please let him get better soon! I read about May 15 this morning. That's just shameful what they did. I had a very busy day at work today and am so happy to be going home! The sitter said that piece of baby's gums fell off and tooth#2 is here!
Hey, congratulations on becoming an official employee songbirdsinging55! I'm curious though- as much as you love your workplace, are you still looking into doing the aesthetic stuff? I probably should put this in the other thread, but. I found a purée baby loves! It's broccoli! She ate that shit up! It was so cute too. Little tiny green beads in her ear and down to her ankles. Amazing how that happens.
