I wish I knew some of these things when I was a FTM, so I'm sharing this.
Both my boys exhibited many of these.

I'll add to this that their skin peels like a lizard or snake when they are about a week or so old. This is TOTALLY NORMAL.

Also, excessive grunting after the first couple of days is NOT a cute thing your baby does, it's a sign of GERD/reflux, consult your pediatrician.

The cross eyed thing really threw my husband for a loop when J was born.

I was freaked out when DD came out grayish looking -- I thought it meant she wasn't breathing ok, not realizing that it's normal (vernix).

Explosive poop was a surprise - I couldn't believe how far it shot out and painted the wall. Fun stuff.

Oh, and sometimes they are super coated in vernix, so much so you think they're missing fingers/toes. Wait on them to clean the baby up.

My little guys looked like their eyes were crossed for the first few months. Now they have no issues. I was worried about their vision at first, but it ended up going away.

I'm just excited for that new baby smell! I cannot wait to meet this baby and I have a long time to wait!

Baby acne is weird - I've seen that before on a friend's baby.

Glad to have read the part about the baby's eyes. I had a lazy eye as a child and it's a concern for me (for no real reason other than I hated wearing that damn patch and don't want to have to do that to my kid) so I would have been on high alert. Thanks for the share!

My OB said it has something to do with the hormones from the mother. It wasn't a lot of blood but if I hadn't known ahead of time I would have been all "WTF is going on with my daughter"!

I'd heard about boobs being normal on a newborn because of the hormone thing, but not this!

Omg yes! I'll never forget when DS did this to me. I was changing his diaper on my bed I was trying to get ready to go to my 6 week pp checkup. He pooped all over me and my sheets! I laughed so hard as I wasn't expecting it & since no one else was home. It was like a mustard colored poop bomb exploded all over me!
