What are you all doing for food? Typically in my family it's usually like beef burgers or ham and turkey sandwhiches, chips and dip or a relish tray, cake and ice cream.
Since it's so late into fall, I might do crockpots of chili or soup and fun fixin's. I have done a soup trio with make your own grilled cheese bar for a couple parties and it's always a huge hit. I have an electric griddle and then soups in crockpots. Cheap and easy. Of course I'll also do cake. I might make one of those cakes that looks like a pumpkin using a bundt pan.

Probably something simple. Dd is an early October bday so hopefully the weather is nice and we can do burgers and hot dogs for the kids. I'll probably make a pasta salad and maybe some baked beans. I'd like to think I'll make a cake, but I'll have just started working so I'm not sure that's realistic.

I just shop both sides of the aisle, as long as it doesn't say mommy's little boy, I get it. My kid can be mommy's little builder, explorer, monster, whatever without implying a gender FFS. Harder to do with boys because of all the pink, but if kid #2 is a boy, I'm gonna try.
We are doing a fox theme I think. Her room is woodland animals because we had just moved to a house with some land and had deer and foxes and all kinds of animals in our yard when I got pregnant. Are foxes too boyish for my baby girl?? I figure since her name starts with an F and she is a ginger that it all kinda goes together? Honest opinions please!!!
Foxes sounds really cute! I think I saw some cute "girl" fox stuff in my pinterest search this morning. I'm sure etsy has something too.
Hey Ladies, just popping in to say hi! Things have been a little crazy so far today but over all good! DD was so good during her baptism and now it's party time
Here's the only picture I have of the kid so far and it's cropped so not the best quality wise. Luckily everyone else has been taking a ton of photo's for me though!
Total change in topic but do your babies have any quiet toys they absolutely love? I didn't bring a lot with us and am running out of things to entertain K at the hospital. The toys that she prefers are all noisy.
I think the only toys she has that aren't noisy are books. Everything else, even if it doesn't play music or jingle, she bangs together and makes it noisy.
How is your mom doing today?
She is doing about the same. They are still assisting her breathing and have her mostly sedated. We found out last night she had a small stroke during the surgery and likely will not be able to see out of the right side of her eyes. It's something she can compensate for by turning her head similar to a tunnel vision on one side. Could be a lot worse but I'm sure she will still be very upset about it. All the nurses and doctors still say she is doing great considering what she has been through. Thank you for asking!

I'm sorry to hear about the small stroke. I'm glad to hear the doctors think she's doing well though! I'll continue to keep her and your family in my thoughts!

Sorry to hear about the stroke. Hopefully with some occupational therapy (they do a lot with vision compensation) she'll improve! Keep us update!
Hey ladies just catching up. Had a nice day at the pool with DH, DD, my mom, and her boyfriend. I'm "napping" right now. So last night at the party there was a very drunk woman who says weird shit every time I see her. Last nights story was: Everyone morning she starts the day off giving her husband a blow job and as a result she gets whatever she wants the rest of the day. She was like it's worth the couple minutes. First I can't believe she shared this and second I would think the BJ should happen at end of day as the reward. Thoughts ladies?

I had a super fun day at the beach with my bff, DS and H. DS was pretty neutral about his beach experience. He just looked around and took it all in. It was also effing hot so he had adorably rosy cheeks. Best of all, no beach poops. SCORE!

ANB is 9 months old today! We celebrated by going to the park and having a little picnic and taking some pictures of him. I'll AW in a minute - he was just waking up from the car ride, so I couldn't get any smiles from him.
And for his first birthday, we'll be camping with my family the end of September and we're going to do a cake at some point. One of my nieces turns 17 the week before we go camping,s o we'll do a dual party. I might do something small back here for DH's family - probably dinner out and a cake (or cupcakes) or something.

That's a hard one- all of our favorite toys make noises. DD loves this really cheap fisher price sorting bucket from walmart. She can't put the pieces through the holes in the lid but loves to take all the shapes out of the bucket over and over and over. It's not electronic so hardly any noise.
Plus 1 for the blocks as well. DS also loves any type of ball.
WTF guys... just got done eating with dh's parents. Again, for the billionth time they brought something for dd and something for dh, and nothing for me... oh.. coupons for bath and body works... um... thanks?
I said something to dh and he said I shoukd talk to mil... Um no dh... that's probably your job.

That is so rude!! And something DH should address with his mom not you. Men are clueless!

Okay, right? At first I was just like meh... but it happens every single time... dh is like I don't know what to say to her.. um perhaps tell her it's rude not to bring anything for me besides coupons.. usually it's nothing for me.

That shit is so annoying. MIL came over today to see DS after our trip and told me all about the foods that DS should be eating. She even brought some over because she "knows" I haven't been fattening him up properly. Umm thanks? I think I can feed my child.

Yeah... rude.
I really think mil is just clueless and has no idea that it might hurt my feelings to not get anything from her.
jeniece47 I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you & your mom. I hope that she continues to improve. I will keep her & you in my T&P. Hugs!

Wow, asshole MILs! My is never malicious, or even meddling, thank God for small miracles. She's just oblivious, and weirdly absent. TPs to them both!
I am watching Gilmore Girls while folding our laundry. I am having serious nostalgia/feels because I watched this series during maternity leave with my tiny little baby. All the feels.
DH leaves tomorrow on our anniversary so we celebrated it yesterday while the ILs watched LO. We just went to a movie, had the most expensive dinner I have ever had, and enjoyed a couple's massage followed by a quick drink with the owner of the massage place. It was great, and I got soo sloshed!
I've missed spending time together. He's been so out of touch lately, which will make Monday even more difficult. It's going to be quite the adjustment with him being gone until Thanksgiving or Christmas.
