I got a bit obsessed with the bday planning, but I think I got it out of my system. There's only so many ways to make a tutu or a smash cake. I think I need to start crafting now though. I'm just going for pink and glitter.
Morning lady's! We're going to brunch for Father's Day, finally! I plan to eat all the sushi & oysters I can plus a Moscow mule, mmmm. Then a little shopping & a stroll along the beach on the boardwalk. Yay for Sunday funday!
We just started looking into birthday ideas. I think we're going to make it a car and train theme since DS is obsessed with those types of toys. We're just going to rent a tent for our yard and have some good catered. Nothing too fancy.
Yeah, it will just be family and a few friends but I want to at least put forth a little more effort than normal. It won't be huge but I want to get her a cute outfit, decorate her high chair, make a smash cake, and decorate a snack/cake/refreshments table.

We've been taking the monthly photos with a stuffed Winnie the Pooh, so we're doing a pooh bear theme. I started looking on pinterest and spent too much time! But there are some cute, simple ideas. I'm really not trying to spend a lot of time or money on this. But there will be booze.
We're definitely not doing anything big for her bday. Family and a few close friends. Not a ton of decorations and probably simple food. I'll probably either do an owl or a bee theme.

We are doing a fox theme I think. Her room is woodland animals because we had just moved to a house with some land and had deer and foxes and all kinds of animals in our yard when I got pregnant. Are foxes too boyish for my baby girl?? I figure since her name starts with an F and she is a ginger that it all kinda goes together? Honest opinions please!!!

No, don't ever think that something isn't girly enough. Foxes are plenty "girly".

Thank you!!! I have everything planned out- like seriously everything- but DH is questioning the fox idea. Now he's making me question it. But foxes it is!!! I think Finnleigh the Fox is kinda cute! Now I just need an adorable fox themed outfit...
I too have started looking into birthday planning, it's a bit overwhelming. So, I convinced DH to hire an event planner to handle it, WINNING!!!

I don't do well with party planning & I'm not creative at all. I don't want to have it at our house because of all the clean up before and after. But mainly I just want to enjoy the party not "work" it.
We have gone very simple and low key with birthdays. Until the kids are old enough to ask for bigger things we are going easy. A few close friends/family at our house, apps, pizza and cake. No planned activities, the kids just play with our toys and eat. Oh - we do pay to board the dogs because it's too hectic otherwise.
We did Elmo theme for our older son's first and Mickey Mouse for his second. Walmart and the dollar tree sells wonderful decorations at such a good price!

I don't think foxes are only for boys. Honestly, any animals should be unisex so I'm not sure why foxes only seem to be on boy clothes.
I haven't even began to think of themes. We are thinking of celebrating it in WA since we don't have any family in Kansas. We are supposed to be in WA two weeks before her birthday anyways so I'm thinking about celebrating then.

I agree! Animals are totally gender neutral.
If you are thinking stereotypical gender lines I would say jake the pirate is too "boy" and Sophia the first is too "girl" but things like sesame characters, Disney, and animals are completely gender neutral. (I don't think that way, our 2 yr old loves Sophia I'm just using this example)
Total change in topic but do your babies have any quiet toys they absolutely love? I didn't bring a lot with us and am running out of things to entertain K at the hospital. The toys that she prefers are all noisy.

She doesn't need something stereo typically "girly" because she's a girl - do what you think would be cute and has meaning to you; foxes fit that description perfectly!
My rainbow arrived 10/15/14.
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs.
TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.

That's a hard one- all of our favorite toys make noises. DD loves this really cheap fisher price sorting bucket from walmart. She can't put the pieces through the holes in the lid but loves to take all the shapes out of the bucket over and over and over. It's not electronic so hardly any noise.

We have a couple quiet/soft books (I got one at the Carters store) that DS loves. I saw a similar one at Target. Oballs, Sophie, Tupperware filled with cereal/crackers. These aren't necessarily silent, but no loud annoying music.

I think the only toys she has that aren't noisy are books. Everything else, even if it doesn't play music or jingle, she bangs together and makes it noisy.
Good morning! I wish I had just given in and been Pinterest-ing this whole time because DS was up from 6-8:30 (normally I can get him back down when he wakes up that early, but not today.) He finally conked out and now I'm wide awake. But DH just came in and said, with a pie plate in his hand, "I cut up stuff; do I just pour eggs in there?" Quiche: score! For DS's birthday, I'm planning on doing a simple lunch (that will probably become outrageously elaborate) at a pumpkin patch. However my BFF just told me they are considering his birthday for their wedding, so I might have to do the weekend after, which is Halloween. I'm seriously hoping she picks another date but I'm not a big enough diva to demand that she does.
What are you all doing for food? Typically in my family it's usually like beef burgers or ham and turkey sandwhiches, chips and dip or a relish tray, cake and ice cream.

Not too much although he loves to chew on anything so anything soft will entertain him for awhile. He won't even look at books, he just wants to chew on them.

We have done pizza from bertuccis for both parties. I don't know if they are east coast specific but they offer sort of gourmet pizza. We do plain for the kids.
If we knew we could be outside I would def do a BBQ and to be honest we may try that for our baby because early October is typically pretty nice, our toddler is March 1 and there is very little chance we could be outside.
our theme is casual we have several friends with very little kids (4 and under) and we need to keep it simple.
