Today is Robin's birthday! Of course I kept forgetting to take pictures so I'll have to update later after I pull them from other people's phones and whatnot, but he had a great day.
We started our morning by going out for donuts (his favorite), and then H took him to Lowe's to check out the fans while I headed over to H's uncle's house (where we were hosting the party because he has a pool) to set everything up. We had a great low key family party from about 11-3 and Robin stayed in the pool literally the entire time. He refused to get out to eat and we even had to put his cupcake next to the pool so he'd blow out his candles!
The only hairy moment was when all the sudden he climbed right out of the pool and then this big gush came out of his bathing suit...and it was brown. I thought we were in the clear because he'd already pooped that day (and thankfully he had on a swim diaper) but it turned out he had a huge bout of diarrhea. Thankfully he got out of the pool before it happened (I think he was trying to get to a potty) and I think it was just from the excitement and the sun because he's been fine since it happened.
After he woke up from his nap he got to open all his presents (because he wouldn't at his party since he refused to get out of the pool) and for the first year I don't feel inundated with toys. He got a drum kit (which we're grinning and bearing because he loves it), some Play Doh stuff, some (actually cute!) clothes, and money to help with his new furniture. We bought him a ferry boat toy and a big Sand Alive kit that he's very excited to try out.
All in all it was a great day, and it was weirdly less stressful having the party at someone else's house. Plus having the pool was a huge plus, because it was hot! I still can't believe my little boy is three. Three is like, a kid. He can't be a kid yet! It turns out I wasn't done with loving on him as a baby! The best party was watching how happy he was all day, so I guess he can keep growing up.
