We are heading to the zoo. It's 77 and overcast so it'll be a great day. Amelia keeps saying monkeys!
My sister has to come up here to get something for her husband, I'm not sure what, but my mom is coming with her and they are going to stop by and bring lunch. Should be a good day!
Im cracking up over here. J keeps saying random numbers. When i showed him fourteen, fifteen, sixteen etc... I was explaining to him that its 4-teen, 6-teen, 7-teen.... Figuring thats a good way to start to explain it. So of course he keeps saying FIVE-teen! Hehehe too cute!
This all stemmed from him doing those Thomas puzzles... Charlie is number 14. He seemed interested so i just went with it.
Did you guys see that Carrie Underwood had to smash her car window after her 4 month old and dogs got locked in the car? How scary! It really can happen to anyone.
True story:
My mom, aunt and grandma locked me in a car when I was 2 months old. They all just shut the doors and left it running but it was locked. Apparently they were all hysterical. It took them 20 minutes of sobbing to decide to call the police who used a hanger to unlock it. When my mom told my dad he reminded her of the spare key in her purse!!! The whole time she had it!!!!

Just vrrooooming by...
I've had a horrible last 12 hours. Had to take K to the 24 hr urgent care. He has a cold but he eye started getting really goopy. That set us back like $150. Turns out it's just viral pink eye & nothing to do about it. Well...it was like midnight by the time I got home (the H stayed home....grr). Had to be up extra early to take K to my grandma's since he can't go to daycare, and MIL has a dr apt that can't be rescheduled. My H's car is undrivable, so they wouldn't be able to take K with them.
Fast forward to this morning & I'm lucky that I left the house with my head. I forgot almost everything I need for work, headset, key card, phone charger. Luckily I packed everything K needed for the day at my grandma's.
Swing my McDs for a frappe (It's the only kind of coffee I like) & the ONLY McDs on the way in (from my parents) doesn't have a functioning machine. Fuck.
I get to work and get a call from HR about an interoffice application, apparently they want to interview me today @ 2, and my boss never told me... I dressed in capris & a tshirt and didn't even bother with my hair...(super casual dress code). Now I have to spend my entire lunch break driving to Target to get a nice shirt for the interview.

Re: bug spray from the last one... We used the off family on L. I had no choice. I took one look at H who had taken his hat off for the ceremony, didn't spray, and had welts the size of silver dollars on his head... Chose chemicals over west Nile tyvm. The skeeters are bigger than the flies!
anustart1 do those clip things actually work? We have another outside wedding on the 25.
I feel like they work better than nothing. I wore them when I was pregnant and nursing while we were camping. It was hard because Lo was only like 6 weeks old when we went camping in August, by a lake, and mosquitos LOVE me. A lot of the time spray doesn't even work for me. I didn't want to spray my upper body and then nurse so I kept it clipped to my tank top and it worked fairly well. We also have some all natural California Kids stuff that works about as well as Family Off.
But both my kids are sturdy enough and not eating their hands to just wear the Family Off stuff in my book. I can honestly handle almost anything but DH knows there is nothing that will make me leave early or stop partying quicker than starting to get bitten. I'm so easily annoyed by them because I get so massacred. Me standing by my kids is like a human shield because they flock to my ankles and toes.
Backpacking was the first time I've ever really slept with DD. I slept on the floor of her room with her one night, but she basically just played on me all night. The girl doesn't stay still! She managed to roll herself into the top of the tent like 4 times. When to kids learn to sleep in one spot?
Also how long does the talking all day everyday last- like 3 years? And repeating the same thing over and over again? I was starting to think we were stuck in a weird loop.
Graham is like sleeping with an egg beater. He never falls out of bed but that kid is STILL all over the place at 4. DH is kind of like Wolverine while sleeping too so I think it's just some people are wild movers in their sleep. Arlo is a total rock once he's down.
I will let you know when the constant talking stops. Most people would say in my family, "never." G repeats everything until we acknowledge we heard it. DH has had numerous "beyond his years in comprehension" talks about how that is annoying and making Daddy lose his mind and it doesn't stick yet.

re: bug spray
We use the Avon stuff. I really like it. It doesn't have deet, and smells kinda nice. It's also spf 30. I just can't put it on K's face otherwise is burns his eyes (he tends to rub his eyes a lot).

subliminalrabbit I have been meaning to tell you that every time I see a picture of E on FB it reminds me SO much of G as a baby! Love those huge deep brown eyes!
The mosquitos are bad this year. We went camping this weekend and I tried the bracelet things. One on my wrist and one on my ankle. They worked ok but I still ended up spraying myself with bug spray. G didn't go with us but I have used the off family spray on him. I got extra bracelets for him to see if they help or not. His bug bites get super big
anustart1, I've been bad about posting lately (I barely catch up and then someone needs me before I can type a response) but I'm sorry you had such a rough day. i know you guys had been talking about G possibly skipping a grade, but even if he doesn't have you considered 2 years of kindergarten instead? I'm just thinking rather than preschool this year which probably isn't challenging enough for him maybe he could go to kindergarten. Give you a bit of a break, him more of a challenge and then the teacher could help you decide if he should move right on to grade 1 or hang back in kindergarten with the kids his own age the following year.
I know registration is long over, but if you had just moved to town they would get you in. I don't see why a younger kid who shows exceptional promise should be excluded just because he maybe wasn't totally "ready" at the time of registration. So a call in to the school could be worthwhile if you are interested.
mcbush I posted our "bug spray" in the other spam thread. It's made in Saskatchewan so I don't know how far she ships, but it's great stuff! germaphobe and megsw85 check out Willow Tree Collection Summer Spray if you guys are interested. Made in Moose Jaw.
daffy2k thanks! That's not a half bad idea about two years of kindergarten. We haven't just moved or anything but I could at least look into it with a desperate plea from a slacker mom. I'm torn because at private pre-k right now 3x a week he is at least allowed to work at his level with math, and I'm not sure that would happen in public kindergarten (and he's actually beyond kindergarten from what my teacher friends have said when they meet him). One of our good friends is a teacher in the public school system here in a very, very prestigious district where kids are always needing to work above their level in math (usually due to pressure from parents). She said our current district is really good and is probably capable of developing a learning plan for him that allows him to be in his grade but work at an advanced level for specific subjects. So that convo was a huge relief to me. I wasn't sure if that was possible with public school.
OMG funny story about moving up in math earlier than you are socially ready for. When I was in elementary school we had a very small class (super small catholic school). I got to work a grade or two ahead in math from 5th grade on. So in 7th grade I was ready for high school math and my grade school had a program with the catholic all girls highs school around the corner that 8th (or 7th in my case) grade students who were ready could come over for math in the middle of the day and then have the rest of the day back in grade school. By October of the school year the other grade schoolers had dropped out of the program and I was the only little duck going over every day. At Halloween grade schoolers dress up, whereas high schoolers do not. So I show up for class that day dressed as JASMINE FROM ALADDIN. I loved that costume, but I was mortified, sitting in a class room (in the FRONT ROW) for a whole class with the big girls I was going to be in school with 2 years later. The teacher called on me as "Jasmine" all class. It was horrible. I tried to basically run out of the building as soon as class was over but I had this long ass ponytail extension and when I went to open the door the ponytail blew into the door as it shut and I was locked out of the building with my hair stuck in the door!!!! I had to contort my body to ring the bell so a student hall monitor could open the door and release my hair. Seriously, it's amazing I didn't drop out of the class after that.
Hello! I totally sucked at keeping up with spam the past two weeks. I'm hoping to keep up this week! subliminalrabbit I missed what was going on with your kitty, but I hope they can figure it out!
thatblondie I know I'm several hours late to this, but if you had a drive through coffee place close, that would be totally acceptable.
workinit There is a bug spray using oils that totally works. I can get you the recipe if you want.
anustart1 you are hilarious and I love reading your stories :-)
nachellebeck I'm so sorry you had to deal with all of that! I hope your day just gets better and better! Good luck on the interview!
anustart1, I think it's totally worth a call. Hopefully you have a principal and kindergarten teacher who really want to foster those amazing skills G has and they'll find a way to work with him.
subliminalrabbit, I hope you get good news about your kitty. We just got Stella back from her way-too-expensive training (but totally worth it, she's a new dog) and H is still kind of mad at me for shelling out so much money on her. She came home with a lump in her tail which had some "tumorey" cells in it so now I have to get that removed. Hes quite seriously going to kill me for spending so much money on the dog...

Thanks ladies. I did stop and buy an energy drink from Sonic, it's not coffee, but it's still good.
On the bright side (of all this crap), I went through my fabric stash last night looking for stray sewing notions & found a charm pack (a pack of coordinating fabric cut in to squares) and matching fleece so I can make a baby blanket! I was so proud I didn't have to spend more money to get any fabric for it. My H was equally impressed. (If he had his way, he would just chunk my entire stash...yarn & fabric)
