we were supposed to go to a parade tonight. H just found out he has to work late - we still could've rushed and made the parade, but decided not to. While I think O would've had a blast, we're on a heat advisory because the "feels like" is supposed to be 110 today, so I'm good with staying indoors.
Gah. I just passed my 1-hour glucose test by only 1 point. I really, really hope they don't make me take the 3-hour.
So our friend had gestational diabetes with her second and going through the process she realized she most likely had it with her first too. She was on the cusp with her first and failed the 1 hour but barely passed the 3 hour. Her first was born with sugar level issues (I don't fully understand it all!) whereas with the confirmed diagnosis and adjusted diet for her second he had no issues at delivery. She says if she could go back she would have just done the GD diet for her first since she was on the cusp of failing, but she just didn't know how it all worked. She also had a ginormous baby the first time (9.6 lbs) so limiting her carbs and sugar for the second was really helpful in not having another linebacker. DH and I remember getting the picture of her daughter (born the day after G) and we were honestly taken aback- she looked like a sumo wrestler! She said the pregnancy, delivery and her body were so much better second time around when the doctor diagnosed her and gave her a plan.
TL;DR, friend on the border of passing would have just done the GD diet for a better outcome if she had a second chance!
But.. We had N's 9 month appointment today.. And they heard a heart murmur. The doctor said it was likely nothing- but she has to go see a pediatric cardiologist. The doctor told us not to worry- but of course I'm worried!! She has to go to a cardiologist! That is worrisome! Now to stay away from google until the appointment in a couple weeks.

I had a murmur at that age! Never another issue. I didn't even find out about it until I was reading my baby book in high school or college.

I had the possibility of a murmur (sent for tests) and I have an irregular heartbeat when I was younger. Seriously no one even noticed until I pulled a chest muscle playing catcher in high school. Even if it is a murmur it can be great big nothing like it was for vitafelix! Stay away from the interwebs...

Praying that all is well and the wait time passes quickly!

megaroo64 I also had a murmur that wasn't detected til I was in college. It's NBD and doesn't require any kind of treatment or follow-up. I hope the same is true for N!
Thanks ladies. I just told my H about it and we made a pact to stay away from Google. He is also not going to tell his mom- which is kinda big. She is the only "normal" parent between the two of us so I'm surprised he's not telling her. I don't know if he's really worried and not telling her or he thinks it's nbd and not telling her.
He was kinda like "we should keep this between us and you should probably not tell your parents either". I think as the word left his mouth he knew how dumb that was. I barely talk to my dad and my mom is insane (and not in a fun way--- in a clinical way). I barely tell them anything anyway!! I had to laugh.
megaroo64 awwww N!!!!!!!! Big hugs! At my office we hear about them a lot and all the parents say it's totally innocent and/or they grew out of it. I'm glad you are getting it checked though!
megaroo64 Travis has a murmur they found it when he was 6 ish months. His is called a musical murmur and he should outgrow it by the time he's 25. We were only told to not be worried if when he gets sick that the Drs start talking about a murmur. His becomes more noticeable when he's sick.
So last week I completely forgot that Travis had a specialist appointment until the day of. Thankfully his appointment wasn't until the afternoon and we made it. His lung specialist wants us to do a sleep study to see how his lungs are doing at night. He's been tired and coughing a lot at night.
They also want us to retry the singular again but name brand. Fingers crossed he doesn't do a personality change again.

It's really hard to get motivated to do anything at work when my boss isn't here. I literally have nothing to do when she's gone. I am waiting until the mail comes and then I'm leaving...

megsw85 I have no doubt you've already thought of this, but can you get some kind of mail-based refill services for Travis' meds? Some of the pharmacies here will have it sent directly to your house on a schedule. When are they going to do the sleep study?
I just got a confirmation call for G's appointment on Wednesday- cast off!!! It will honestly be weird to have him with two arms. And now I need to apply more sunblock. Because yes I had figured out the square inch sunblock savings for one arm for 8 weeks. Haha.

Don't forget to video him buttoning his shirt before then!

Nope no delivery system here for meds. I can usually call and get refilled and then they are ready within a day or so. But he also had a new one on top of his regular ones. He's on 5 daily meds including two puffers
We got put on a list for the sleep study. It has to be done at the hospital and in the big city 3 hrs away. I've already told my H he has to take the time off for this. I can deal with specialist appointment and a lot of crap alone. But not that.
Did you guys see that Carrie Underwood had to smash her car window after her 4 month old and dogs got locked in the car? How scary! It really can happen to anyone.
I heard about that! So scary! I always keeps my keys in my hand, pocket or dangling from my mouth (if I have no pockets - it works!) when I'm putting my kid in the car. I locked myself out of my car once because my doors lock themselves when the key is in the ignition.
