I can't believe it's Sunday night already. Working Saturday makes me feel like I didn't even have a weekend! We went to a friend's for a BBQ (Canadian style) and K enjoyed playing with our friend's little guy (16 mo old). She actually ate a potato (it was covered in cheese and bacon, but still this is huge for her) and it was nice to catch up with friends.
K was killing me though. Our friends put their little guy to bed pretty early and he was crying for 3 or 4 minutes tops before he fell asleep. The whole time K was like "Uh hello guys. That kid is crying. Does nobody care?! I said he is crying!" She kept going up to the little guy's Mom and saying "B is crying! Go!" And pointing to the stairs. I was trying not to laugh because it's nice that she is concerned about another child crying, but the way she kept saying stuff was so damned judgey it was funny.
Colton actually stayed awake and sat still the entire minions movie. Afterwards he had a big grin on his face. So I assume he liked it.
That's awesome! I'm amazed at him and pitchslap's C. I don't think KJ would do that. Do you watch movies at home? I have to figure out if we need to practice. Today I asked KJ to sit with me on the couch and I think she asked me to watch a movie. I'm not sure though because I don't know if she knows the word movie. Maybe that's a start.
Lo sat through all of Inside Out and I wss Shocked. I think he was intimidated by the screen and we went close to bedtime. We brought lots of snacks.

The half price growler improved my day immensely, but DS was in trouble all. damn. day. On the plus side, with the addition of a new family down the street, there's now a group of 10 kiddos age 2-9 that all ride bikes and play together on our street, while the parents watch and have a beer. It's awesome.
Series of semi-serious questions-- DD has decided that one of her testing limit areas is smacking my cocker spaniel. She does it at weird times and with zero warning. Tess is being really good, but I feel awful she is getting hit for no reason. HALP!!!
We've been having a similar issue with DS grabbing fur and pulling on the cats. He's been lucky and hasn't been bitten or scratched yet
Edit - we remove him from the cat and tell him that it's not okay to pull fur, hit etc. Hasn't been making much of a difference

How do you react when she does it? What have you already tried? Timeout? Maybe try ignoring her and focusing on comforting the dog. Talk to the dog, hug it and kiss it and give it all your focus. Maybe she won't get the attention so it will stop it. Just an idea...

Are there any houses for sale on your block!?
There hadn't been ANY for the first 4.5 years we've lived here; in the last 2 months there have been 2! I wish one of y'all could have snagged one. One went to a family which is awesome, but the other went to a couple grad students (not as awesome). Houses in town are selling super duper fast right now.
Question 4- at what point can I stop answering the "why" questions? My knowledge of the laws of motion only takes me so far when answering why she can't sit on my lap while driving. I tried to get into particle physics, but honestly I don't remember much about how particles are bonded.
I usually say, "I'm not sure, lets ask daddy" when I need a break. I say "I'm not sure" a lot.
Did anyone on here that grew up in Germany just start following me on Ig? I am always confused when I get new random followers that aren't trying to sell something. I always expect them to be a provide but I have no idea. And I always follow them back just in case.
thelorax though I'm often old school if they are just being punks that want thir way and say "because I said so and I'm in charge." Or "because im your mother."

We do watch movies at home. He usually walks off halfway through and starts playing. Even in the car he watches and stops every now and then. The only matinee was right at nap time so I had no expectations. We gave him his water and bought popcorn. He sat in my H's lap the entire time wide eyed and happy. We had a plan that if he got fussy either walk home or wait depending on the timing of the meltdown.
I think just the atmosphere helped keep him calm and happy.

For that situation i usually tell J that he has to sit in his seat, i have to sit in my seat and daddy has to sit in his seat. I tell him its for our safety while we are driving in the car.
I dont have a general answer. It all depends on the situation here.
N, who never cries, is fighting sleep like crazy. And crying about it. So unlike her. I forgot to ask them to hold the cheese on the salad I had yesterday, but I feel like this is an extreme reaction to that. Maybe I'm forgetting what it's like, as she's been find for so long now. Poor baby just needs to sleep! (And so does mommy!)

I haven't had to pull this out for M, but I did step in and tell DH's little bro (15) and sister (17) "at a certain point you just need to respect the fact that your sister is the adult here and she told you to do something". This was after listening to them both argue with my SIL over her use of the iPad/phone when she told them to put their phones away because they literally hadn't set them down since arriving at her house earlier in the week. The lack of respect for adults in general, but particularly the ones who are feeding and caring for you all summer really set me off.

Motherhood kicked my butt today. Tomorrow is a new week!
The only time I feel good about myself is when I give my entire self to my 2 girls. But I'm drowning because I'm not balancing like I should be. This. Is. Hard.
I want to smother A with a pillow...I hate listening to him snore. I see myself going to G's bed soon...
Snore nose strips from Walgreens! And Zyrtec for him at night if he has bad allergies! Zyrtec has saved us from having to have separate bedrooms in the summer
Crazy day. We had a nice relaxing morning, then E's nap was cut way too short because the ibuprofen wore off. He played with the iPad in our bed while I showered and got ready for a Baby Shower/birthday party thing. It was a nice evening good food and amazing cake! And I got E to actually eat some. It was a bundt cake so no frosting. For inquiring minds...
Ladies, any recommendations for cough medicine for LOs now that they are 2 and can have things other than zarbees? A has a dry cough that sounds like her throat has to be hurting and she cusses after she coughs
We buy Hylands for Gia. They have all different kinds for every possible symptom, just make sure you get the ones that say "4 Kids". They worked really well for us this winter. hylands.com/products/child
