mrsbabe614 have you started your new work schedule? How are you doing with being at home with Dd more?
I have! It's fucking amazing! I got so much done just the first week of it. I love all my extra time. She's sick right now so that sucks ass but I'm so happy now! Thanks for asking :-)
Glad to hear it! Sorry she's sick, though! Boo! I was really on the fence about starting my own law firm, and another lawyer mom convinced me its the best ever to be your own boss and have a flexible schedule with a LO. I realized that I'm super lucky to get the best of both worlds.
I compromised and did intervals of running and waking. That means I can get happy hour!
I love that typo. So much.
I almost changed it, then decided everyone in here is so sleep deprived they either wouldn't notice or would be like "yep, I do intervals of waking and running too."
The thing I hate most about pumping is that it takes up all my free time at work. I used to be able to take a nice walk during my lunch break, but now I'm stuck in a windowless office.
DH is back on his ultra low carb diet. At least this time around he is now in charge of making dinners, so I don't have to try to figure out what he will and will not eat.
My sister is getting married in January and I am MoH. Gotta get back in shape. I'm giving up weeknight drinking and junk food at work.
Is your sister's wedding still going to be crazy, theme-wise?
I think it is gradually getting less crazy. For a long time she wanted a glam-metallics / rustic combo. Now I think it is trending more just metallics. She ditched the idea of my mom assembling center pieces (for 30 tables) out of lanterns and slices of logs. She's still holding out for wanting to scatter gold and white frosted pine combs around the flowers, though.
A coworker just lost 180 lbs. She ate grapefruit for breakfast, a chicken breast with lite salad for lunch and no dinner. She cut out sugar, carbs, and alcohol. She also worked out 1 hr a day.
I'm not that dedicated.
Fuuuuuuuck NO. That's not even remotely close to a healthy plan. But good for her, I guess. I could stand to lose a person too, but I would lose my mind that way. And I am pre-diabetic, so my sugars would go apeshit doing something like that. I've joked about doing Jared's Subway diet, but I get sick of Subway so fast that I would go a week and lose a pound and be all "fuck this shit"

PS How long did it take her?
I think cutting carbs and sugar might be ok but a lot of carbs are used for energy so really I feel like you could just make healthy trades for things and be A "ok". Eating one meal and a fucking fruit is starving yourself

I have tried to cut carbs. I am a carboholic and after I lost about 10 lbs, I would go nuts and eat all the carbs. And be right back where I started.
I totally agree that you have to have the right balance. WW was the best thing for me and even the GD diet was really good for me. I was able to control the number of carbs I had per meal, but didn't have to cut them out completely. I would love to loose 150 lbs, but I want to do it in a safe, healthy way. And that will probably take 12.35 years.

truth. WW has really good success for my SIL too but with all the kids she just never stuck with it. It's like once she was off track she had a hard time getting back on track. It's fucking hard yo!

Trust me, I know. I've lost 40/50 lbs twice and have gained it all back. Twice. I need to pull it together so I can teach ANB to eat right. I may start eating how I feed him - one carb, fruit or veggie and protein. Sometimes I will give him both a fruit and veggie and use the fruit as a dessert.

I'm saying I totally get it and completely respect anyone who's trying. I'm definitely not the poster child for healthy eating!

Someone on here (I think @meagpt ) said that feeding LO actually made her eat better because she feeds her off her plate. We're pretty healthy eaters, but I've really noticed the difference when we eat out because I have to pick something I can share with DS, and I really can't justify giving him pizza crust more than once or twice a month. It's just not really a food.

I'm back on a "diet" that's similar to WW. It's counting calories - but it's the same principle as WW, really. Although - I have an easier system of counting than most. I lost 65 pounds once and then I had two kids, my crazy life and I've gained it back. The nutritionist I worked with was ADAMANT that you not consider any food "bad food", just be responsible and budget it in. It worked.

I totally agree with this. This lets me eat butter. And pizza.

She TOLD me to eat pizza. It was one of my tricks to deal with my crazy theater schedule. One slice and a side salad. I knew she was great at that moment...
She also told me to NEVER buy fat free. That fat makes me feel full faster. I almost proposed.

PS How long did it take her?
15 months. And yes, I agree that she starved herself. She will tell you that she starved herself. But she has said that she had to do something dramatic. Because the "moderation" stuff wasn't working for her personality. Like me, she doesn't do well with moderation.
Example: I'll eat a "serving" of wheat thins. What do you mean a "serving" is 5 crackers? That's horseshit. Gimme the box.
So, she put herself on a strict, no cheat system. It wasn't easy and I watched her agonize over it. But she stuck to it and it worked. Once she met her goal, she slowly started working a little back into her diet. She still makes lunch her biggest meal of the day, but now she eats a small dinner.
Not advising anyone to follow this routine, just throwing it out there. To point out that I do NOT have that kind of dedication.

FWIW, I didn't think you were condoning it all! I also don't have that kind of dedication and agree that a serving size is usually the whole box or bag. Doritos, especially. Whole family size bag is one serving in my world.
Alright ladies, not caught up yet but I need some perspective and advice for those of you with babes in daycare. I've toured a number and have it down to two.
#1. Small church daycare where she would be in an older infant room, age 12-18 months. -Pros - Super close to home and therefore easier for my H to drop off/pick up. Cheaper. - Cons - Designated nap times and naps are on cots, not in cribs. This worries me that she will never nap again and be a hot mess whenever she's actually home because she'll be so sleep deprived.
#2. Small daycare in a room for 6 weeks-16 months - Pros - Small, clean, on the way to work for me. Cribs for naps, in a separate room. - Cons - more expensive. Since not as close to home, more out of the way for my H to ever drop off/pick up.
Also important to this equation: She won't start until September and so will be 11 months by then. We will likely move in the next 6-8 months and possibly have to find new daycare all over again. Also, H travels for work sometimes so I will be the primary person dropping off/picking up.
I forgot that composite fillings don't conform to your bite like amalgam, and I think the one I got today isn't shaped quite right. Hopefully it's just the material change. But! I can drink cold water again and not want to scream in agony now!
