Anyone manage contractions with nifedipine?

I was in the hospital last night (31 weeks) being monitored for contractions again. The doctor suggested nifedipine to stop and manage my contractions. I'm going to speak with my midwife later today about the option and have been doing a bit of my own research.
Has anyone here been on it? What was your experience?

Sorry you're going through this! They put me on it when I was having contractions with DS - I didn't have any type of reaction from it but I was already on BP meds, so since this is also a BP med they just took me off of what I was taking so I could start the nifedipine. I think there might have been a little dizziness when I first started while my body was getting used to it but nothing major. Good luck, I hope they can get things under control for you!

I was put on Procardia both pregancies, but it never really helped my contractions in either scenario. No side effects, but with this latest pregnancy, I just stopped taking it after 10 days or so, when I noticed no improvement. In my case, I just had a highly irritable uterus (regular contractions started ~20w, and a couple of weeks later, I was regularly having BH contractions every 5-10 minutes, round the clock. For the remaining 4-5 months of my pregnancy. Yuck) -- the contractions were just an annoyance, and never really caused any progression (thankfully!).

Thanks for your input brummy14 and direy25! I started it a few days ago and it's helping It's such a relief. It doesn't take them away completely, but they significantly lessen in frequency and are less intense. Makes me feel way less anxious.
