Really important poll about bread

Please help settle a very important argument in my household right now.

On the counter. Not in the dark. And putting bread in the fridge is just weird.

Putting bread in the fridge just makes it stale. Drawer all the way, unless you only occasionally eat it like in our house, then the freezer is the way to go. Almost all my GF bread comes already frozen.

I guess, now that I think about it, I don't mind bread boxes.  I would want either a cool retro one or a sleek stainless steel one.  But, not for the benefit of keeping bread fresh, just to hide it so our counter looks less cluttered.

I agree, but the TASTE?  

Bread and most fruits are way better room temp.  I love strawberries but fridge strawberries vs. farm-stand-in-the-sun-all-day strawberries are totally different worlds!

But our bread actually stays on the counter because we don't keep a loaf long enough for it to go bad. My kid eats PB&J like its her job. If we went through it slower, it'd go in the fridge.

See, this is where I am at. A loaf never lasts more than 3-4 days in our household, so when my husband puts it in the fucking fridge and it ends up fucking stale when I go to make a sandwhich, I get a bit ragey.

100% agree. We keep bread in the fridge because we don't eat it fast enough, and we need it to stay un-moldy for longer.

But it definitely tastes better when stored at room temperature.

My mom always refrigerated bread when I was growing up, so I'm probably just used to the stale taste...

Ours stays in the pantry but we go through bread like crazy so it rarely gets the chance to go stale/moldy.

Vote for freezer! We don't eat a lot of bread. (bagels and all carbs, yes.. we just don't really do sandwiches / toast much)

What she said! When DH isn't home, I have to put bread in the fridge or it'll go bad. But when DH is home, he has 2 slices with almost every meal (toast for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, a slice or two with a saucy dinner) and we go through it so quickly it'll stay on the counter.

So I voted Fridge because that's where it is right now! If you asked in 2 weeks, I'd have to say counter!
