Ew I didn't know keeping it in the fridge was a thing. Now that I know you can keep butter on the counter we go through bread like crazy and it goes on the counter. Oh the things I've learned on GKU.
We actually keep ours in the microwave?! We don't have a bread drawer or pantry, don't like it in the fridge, and if we keep it on the counters the cats try to eat it. Solution? Microwave!

Freezer... But that's because I buy Ezekiel bread, and it has to be frozen, otherwise it will go bad very very quickly (and that stuff is expensive!). I thought frozen bread would thaw all mushy- but it doesn't. Definitely the way to go for when it takes a while to go through a loaf!
DH keeps his white bread on the counter, but he usually just keeps that at work for lunches.

We use this:
$10 on Amazon. And it's a-fucking-mazing. Bread stays so soft and fresh for at least a week, which is about the max that a loaf lasts us. No mold ever so far.
But our bread actually stays on the counter because we don't keep a loaf long enough for it to go bad. My kid eats PB&J like its her job. If we went through it slower, it'd go in the fridge.
Seriously. We have two loaves on Sunday. Gone by Friday. I might get 2 pieces. Maybe.
SS: We keep ours in the freezer. If we want to use it right then and there we'll put in the toaster or we'll just let it thaw. Bread thaws really quick. I was throwing away so much bread because we'd really only eat it on the weekends so this has been working out great!
Omg, people. Stop putting every fucking thing in the fridge!!!!!!
Haha I have to because my asshole cat will eat all our food and know how to open the cupboard doors for his brother
We put baby locks on a few cabinets to keep the cats out of the ones where they could get into trouble. Between that and buying some tupperware to store things, we've saved a lot of money and kept things out of the fridge.
