I love my Ergo! I find I am able to adjust it quite easily. Not sure how it compares to other carriers in the ease of putting it on - but once I got the hang of it I could do it quite easily. They have a separate newborn insert, but you can just as easily use a rolled up receiving blanket under baby's bum
My biggest complaint is that we get sweaty in the summertime. But (1) I am just a sweaty person and (2) since you're wanting something warm, this shouldn't be an issue for you.
We had a mei tai when Lilly was little. I didn't like it at all. The straps were too thick to get a nice, tight tie. I sold it recently.
We also have an Evenflo soft carrier that worked pretty well. H liked using it more than I did.
My bff got me a Boba wrap for this new baby. Says it holds up to 35lbs. I was going to try to stick Lilly in it until I remembered that I am 37 weeks pregnant and have a huge belly....yes, I actually forgot.

The stretchy wraps tend to start sagging around 15lbs. Not a safety issue, it can just get uncomfortable.
I started with an Ergo & Moby wrap & liked them. But it's Texas...and I had K in June....so I didn't babywear as much as I would have liked to. I started wearing K again when he was about a year old. We came back to the Ergo & it was great. Sweaty, but great.
I bought a toddler Tula in Feb. & LOOOOOVE it. It's much more comfortable than the Ergo. It seems to distribute his weight better.
Might I suggest a ring sling? It's easy in's & outs. You can leave it threaded so you aren't tying & untying. While A is small...I wouldn't imagine it would put too much strain on your back (I still struggle with sciatica pain from pregnancy).
I just made a couple to use with K when he wants up & down.

I was thinking of a Tula but didn't know how well they adjusted with plus sized bodies. And a ring sling sounds like a good idea! I'll have to look into that for maybe around the house/taking Azeem outside to play
My H is plus sized and it easily goes between us! He could never get the Ego around his belly.

I wore Colton in a moby wrap for the first while. I would prewrap it and then just slide him and tighten it all up.
They don't recommend putting a newborn on your back unless you are a very experienced babywearer. Honestly I would look at joining a local babywearing group.
I wrapped Colton for a long time. Moby and ringsling until he was 3 months and then wovens and I am currently on a Tula kick. Wearing him was the only way to save my sanity with two kids
I just got a hand me down sling from a friend after seeing how easy my SIL was able to pop her kiddo in and out. We even put my 32 pound toddler in it!
I figure it will be exactly what I need until this one for exactly what you described outings and chasing a toddler.

For a soft wrap, I really like the k'tan. I briefly had a Mai tei and did not care for it. H insisted we buy a Bjorn, because he wanted to look like the guy in the Hangover. He used it one time and I didn't love it. I recently sold it to a relative, so I can justify buying either an Ergo or a Tula for the next one.

I plan on buying the k'tan. I had the moby but didn't like all the material. I also plan on buying a Tula, but not until the beginning of next year. I'll use the k'tan when he's small. I was looking at ring slings, but for me I feel like I'll be more comfortable with the k'tan. I'm still struggling and going back and forth. Thanks for starting this thread! I'll be following in hopes to get a solid idea of what I should do.

I had a ktan with DD and loved it. In the winter I would need to take one arm out of my coat to put her in and then slide the piece up on my shoulder and zip the coat back up. The nice thing about a wrap or ring sling is that it's pretty easy to zip the baby up inside your coat if you coat has a little extra room. I never tried one, but I think a ring sling might be good for what you are looking for. IMO the ergo or other buckle carrier would not be as easy to use without needing to take off your coat to put the baby in.

I started out with a woven wrap (not what you're looking for, I know) and an Ergo with LO. It took until LO had much better head control and was pretty much out of the infant insert until we figured out nursing in it. For that reason I loved my woven wrap. I'm looking into getting a ring sling for #2 because it seems much easier to wrangle with a NB and toddler. I'll definitely be using the Ergo again though. With the infant insert it should keep my Feb baby nice and toasty!
For a ring sling I'm either going to make one (thanks for the tutorial nachellebeck!) or maybe get a maya because it's very reasonably priced.
I used the k'tan and the ergo. I really like both- the KTan when she wS little and the ergo after that. I ended up using he ergo earlier with N because I felt she was more secure in there- especially when I would have to pick up my other child while wearing her.
I have the Beco Gemini and love it. I got it over the Ergo because it's easier for me to put on and adjust and there's no need for a newborn insert. It's very comfortable and easy to switch between DH and I. One of the drawbacks is no pocket though.

What size ktan are you wanting? I have a brand new one I bought for S but I don't like it. If it's the right size you can have it.
That's very kind of you. I'm a heavier set person though, so I was going to try an L or Xl. I was going to see about getting to a store and trying one on to see what size would work best.

Another vote for the k'tan and the Ergo (with insert or rolled up receiving blanket). I had a ring sling too but I really, really struggled to position it properly so that E didn't slide down and become buried in it. Totally user error, but I watched so many videos and still couldn't figure it out. If you have a babywearing group nearby it would probably be a good option though!
I loved the k'tan for the ability to wear it under a coat. The Ergo was great when it wasn't too hot in SoCal!
violet, your back shouldn't hurt. When you wrap well, it actually helps correct your posture. You can try spreading the passes across your back. It looks like they are bunched on your shoulders a bit which would put some undo strain on your back.
Yes! I remember that making a big difference. See how the fabric is spread out in this pic.

That's a good idea. I was secretly asking for advice with the pic I'll try it today. It actually did start hurting less the longer I wore her too.
I felt like I needed to keep pulling down the little loop in the back every once in a while to keep it comfortable.
