We wanted to do a gender neutral too. So we painted the top half of the wall a orangeish yellow the bottom half is a chocolate brown and we have a white chair rail going around the room. The furniture will be a dark cherry wood to match the floors.

Our current nursery is already painted gray with light green accents and hints of lavender. If there is theme, it might be called Vintage. We'll be moving DD to the other bedroom at some point after baby is born and we'll make the current nursery over for baby boy. No major changes though.
We are waiting until we find out baby's sex. For a boy we are doing a space theme with a new line from land of nod, for a girl I found a bedding set at land of nod I love and will decorate around it. It's powder pink, white and black with swans
We are doing grey/white/yellow with a *touch* of elephant.
We were team green before things hit the fan, so had already decided on GN.
I'm using IKEA cribs that are unfinished, and have our painter painting them yellow. The rest of the furniture is white. Walls are grey and curtains will be grey and white chevron. We have a few tiny little elephant things we are adding in.

We're painting the room a light grey and reusing DD's dark cherry furniture. Our glider and lots of little things I'm reusing are sage green, so I think the color scheme I ended up with is grey, sage green, and navy blue. We have some marvel prints DH and I picked up at comiccon so that's where the bright colors will come in for the room.
We are also moving to a new house and 2 of the bedrooms are already painted: one is a teal-ish blue and the other is apple green. We figured that if it was a boy we would use the blue room and the green room for a girl (the green room comes with cute flower curtains and a matching rug). I was toying with the idea of a ladybug theme for the room since we are having a girl and the very first thing I bought for her when we found out was a pair of pink ladybug shoes, but then last night I decided to do a Winnie the Pooh theme instead because a) I love Tigger and Eeyore, and 2) it's a neutral themes and so possibly reusable next round. We haven't bought the furniture yet but both DH and I prefer darker wood. I have my eye on a crib bedding set, numerous wall decals, a laundry hamper, a mobile and a lamp all featuring Winnie the Pooh and friends.

Walls are a blue gray on top, white trim in the middle and white on the bottom. Furniture is dark brown wood. We have an olive colored chaise lounge. I will decorate with elephants. Plan on using white sheets. Considering stripped curtains. Accents will be gray/blue/green/white

Ours will be yellow with woodland critters. Though I'm thinking about painting one walk a dark gray and putting a big white tree with yellow birds on that wall along with the crib and it's yellow bedding.

We are recycling DS's nursery, which I LOVE. It's travel themed, the color scheme is like an old map (so a lot of muted/vintage blues, greens, orange and yellow) if this ones a girl we'll play up the purple that's in the maps and globes we have in there. I found wooden planes, trains, cars and such at Goodwill and painted them white. I hung up the plane and made a little bunting/flag banner thing with blue fabric and it trails off the airplane over the crib as like a mobile type thing. A friend of mine painted four little pictures for us that have different things on them like hot air balloons, a road, a sailboat etc. and little sayings and quotes from the book "Oh The Places You'll Go". So those are hanging up. Since we have so many fewer expenses this time around, we're going to invest in a good rug (we have hardwoods) and curtains that really compliment the room. so excited!

I think we're the same person (when it comes to theme) :-)
We're going for a celestial/elephant theme. I love elephants and our baby's middle name is Luna (Moon in Spanish) so I want everything to be very mystical and celestial. Here is an inspiration pic from my pinterest:
We have a super teeny tiny space to use for a nursery, since we live in a one bedroom loft...and our bedroom is already quite the "cozy" nook (aka compact as hell). My RE was convinced it was gonna take us a lot longer to get pregnant, so we weren't really thinking about nurseries when we went house hunting...oops.
We dabbled with the idea of doing a grey/pigeon theme (from the cute kiddo book "Don't let the Pigeon drive the bus!"). However, one of my favorite cartoons growing up was My Neighbor Totoro, so we are going with a Totoro themed space instead! DH totally indulged me, because he was kind of leaning toward an old school Winnie the Pooh theme for a while. I am incredibly stoked about Totoro - kinda wish it were my room/space!
The walls will probably be painted a nice calming blue, and our accents are dark/espresso wood and deep green/brown for the throw rug. I really wish we had an entire bedroom for our little guy, but we JUST bought our condo over the summer, so moving just ain't gonna happen right now. We just have to creep on Apartment Therapy and check out ways to make the most out of tinier/oddly shaped spaces!

We haven't decided what if anything we're doing for new baby's nursery. We're tentative moving when she will be around 4 weeks old (we don't have official orders yet). So it depends on what our new house is like.
DSs nursery has blue carpet and the walls are painted green and purple (top third of each wall is purple and bottom 2/3rds green). I have 3 blue picture frames with scripture in them, and blue plaque and blue (bunting?) Hanging as well. He also has his name in white letter above his crib.
If we don't move we will likely have them share a room or move DS to the office, make his nursery the new baby's nursery and transform the playroom into the office.
We're not doing a theme or anything, but MH painted the walls a really pretty sea foam-ish color and just installed beadboard halfway up the walls. We're going to do a variety of bright colors for the fabrics in the room so that it's not too matchy, stick with neutrals for the bedding (gray chevron, anyone?), and have white furniture. It's coming along much better than I originally anticipated. Clearly, I need to trust MH more often. Pictures soon!
So anyway, Squabblings nursery is going to be grey & white and pigeon themed. I know your all thinking "what the whaaaaat??!?!" but I promise you it's going to be beautiful - I will post pictures on here once it's done!
You totally need all of the Mo Willems pigeon picture books! I love the idea!
Edit: forgot to post my own info... Duh!
Nursery has sky blue walls already, and DH is going to paint mural(s) of the Disney Winnie the Pooh characters hanging from balloons. Furniture is a bit hodge podge, we are using a dresser we already have, so it will be darker colors, but probably won't all perfectly match.

If it's not too much of a privacy invasion could you post (or PM) a picture of his room? My son wants to paint his room "dark purple" which I think is a little goth for a 3 year old so we're trying to work out a compromise that uses purple without turning the whole room into a dark pit. I was thinking a purple faux chair rail, but I'm curious how you guys used the purple in your son's room.

billyhorrible I have some pics from before he was born that once I get on my laptop I'll post for you.
So impressed with everyone's baby rooms! Seems like you're all ahead of the game. We just bought a bigger condo and we're in the processing of moving this week so there was no point in buying anything yet. Before my husband and I were married we saw this mural in a local ice cream parlour and we always loved the design. He told me years ago that if we ever had a baby he would want to have a whimsical candy themed nursery. The mural we ordered will be a brighter and more colourful. We're also huge fans of Adventure Time so that aspect will be added somewhere in the room. The furniture will be white and I can't wait to go shopping in a few weeks. My MIL hates this theme because she insists that baby rooms can only be pink, blue or green. Her displeasure for candy and fun only makes me love this more!
I love your theme so, so much. Please post pictures when it's done!
Lavender gray and yellow. Mostly because of the walls are already yellow. DH really wants a monkey theme but I don't really need everything to be matchy matchy

Land of nod has this farmers market crib set with fruits that I kind of fell in love with but I had already started planning a whimsical mermaid theme (not cartoony). I think I might just go with the fruit theme the more I think about it. I'm a simple lady haha.
For DD we did white furniture with light green walls. For this baby the furniture is honey oak and we are going to do a space theme. We found out we are having a boy but was doing a space theme regardless.
Ladies: I have really been struggling with finding nursery bedding that I'm in love with (I personally think nursery patterns/fabrics for little boys are SO much more limited than selections for girls) so I started looking for my own fabric this afternoon to make my own. Anyway, long story short- I found this awesome website that lets you design your own nursery bedding. It allows you to select flooring, crib color, wall color, etc. as well as pick your own fabrics. I have been having a blast with it and thought some of you might enjoy it too. Here's the link:

We are only renting our condo right now and if we paint, we have to prime the walls before we move out (which will hopefully be in 2016 when we buy), so we are keeping the walls white.
The furniture is dark espresso. We are using DH's 2 dressers from when he was younger. The shorter, longer dresser will have the changing pad on top of it. We are ordering a new crib in the same color.
We find out the sex on Thursday, but have our colors narrowed down either way. If it's a girl we are going with purple, turquoise and gray or purple, yellow and gray. If it's a boy, we are doing navy, gray, green and possible orange accents
I'm not huge into themes, so we are just sticking with basic colors and I have found a few prints in each color scheme on Etsy we like.
My A/S seems so far away reading about all these adorable nurseries! I can't wait. I have grand plans involving pearls if it is a girl. I will have to do a lot of planning yet if it is a boy because I don't want to copy DS's nursery but I used a ton of ideas I loved in his. Either way there will be plenty of vintage touches. I will post pics once I know and get started, I hope others do as well as it is so fun to see nurseries come together!
I think Iv'e completely changed my mind. I saw a book themed nursery and I'm in love. I don't know how to make pictures normal sized on this site otherwise I'd show you. But I want to put book quotes up on the walls and display all the books we are going to get LO. EEK. I'm so excited now.
Ok I am officially obsessed with this idea. You could go so many directions with it (classic, whimsical, etc.) and who doesn't love books?
I love this thread! It's getting me so excited for the nursery!
mrskblack11 I'd love to know where she got that hamper! Super cute.
Our nursery right now is still studs and insulation, hopefully sheetrock will be the next step but the nursery in my mind looks fantastic lol. DH made 2 dressers from ikea and a bookshelf into built in units in the eaves upstairs that will be white. The crib and changing table are already here from pottery barn, dark wood color. I really like the grey upholstered glider with white piping from BRU so that'll be the next big purchase. Walls are going to be a light-ish grey with grey elements throughout the room and my Pinterest and Etsy are exploding with ideas for mint accents (pillows, blankets, rug, crib skirt, curtains). This way when baby comes and we know the sex we can add navy accents for boy or pinks and yellows for girl.
