Laundry Help! Ink in the clothes!

DH has done it again.
He left a gel pen in his pants pocket and I washed the clothing with the pen inside.  It exploded everywhere.

It was thankfully a load of towels and jeans, but it pretty much ruined the majority of our towels.

Is there a good way to get ink out of clothes?  I've soaked the items in rubbing alcohol about 4 times not and its a lot better, but its still there.

Tips?

Dawn dish soap and the hottest water you can stand and hand scrub.

Innteresting, I will try hair spray after the Dawn.

When you do wash them, try putting some Shout Color Catcher sheets in with the wash. It's supposed to pick up any dyes in the wash water so clothes don't, and I had good success doing hot washes with them to try to leach color that had stained light colored clothes.

Any luck!? Ever since Gage put lipstick in the clothes basket which in turn got into the washer I have put a color catcher in every load. They work well if a pen or something slips through.

I second the color catcher. I had a friend say the oxy clean gel stick is great. She said it got hair dye off a shirt (she's a professional stylist).

OMG no luck. I'm going to try Color Catcher.

I'm making DH do most of the work now since he is the one who ruined all of our towels, and I had to scrub ink out of the bathroom sink yesterday. I love the man, but he makes so much extra work for me sometimes!

I've had really good luck with lots of hard stains using a Fels Naptha bar. It's a bar soap that is sold in the stain remover aisle, usually way at the top or way at the bottom. It's old school, my grandma always used it, but it's seriously the best! It's also one dollar and lasts for years. You just wet the stain, rub it with the bar, let it sit a minute then wash. I've never tried it on pen ink though...

You can try super hot water and a ton of Oxi Clean. It has saved me a million times over!
