So Eleanor is 7 weeks old and for my sanity and the fact I'll be going back to work next month we started trying bottles today. So far we've tried 3 different bottles and various temps of milk. DH, my mom and I tried offering. She won't suck on them.
I think she needs a bottle with a short nipple so I'm looking for suggestions?
Also any advice?? Mirabelle took like the second bottle we tried so this is new for us. Also tips for DH bc he doesn't handle her crying well?
We tried two different avent bottles and a breastflow bottle.
Just found a Tommee tipee bottle in a box of baby stuff and the nipple is the shortest out of the brands we have in the house. Also found a born free so will try those tomorrow.
Remind me how long breastmilk can stay in the fridge?
For us, changing the material the nipple was made out of made all the difference. Emmett refused all the silicone bottles, but when I finally tried a latex one he took it no problem. We ended up using the playtex drop in with latex nipples (sold separately). Good luck. I remember how stressful that was.

5-7 days. But if she drank out of it then it needs to be used for the next feeding.
I agree to leave the house and try to have her take the bottle in a nearly upright position with bottle horizontal.
As for bottles, we had a lot of luck with the Joovy Boob. Very boob-like. My girlfriend's baby refused all but the comotomo brand. Both have round, short nipples.

I don't have any new suggestions, but I'm sorry you are going through this because I know how stressful it is! I was convinced my DD was going to starve when I went back to work. I would suggest re-offering some of the bottles you have tried. For my DD, she refused the advent one several times and now it's the only one she will eat from. I almost threw them all out, but within a two week time frame she decided they were the only ones she would use.
Do you have a DC provider who would let her come over for a few hours to try and see how she does with a bottle for her? That helped put my mind at ease. My DD did not take a bottle well the first two times she went to DC, but luckily she was only there for a short time frame and by the third time going, she took a bottle so I felt reassured she would eat eventually. Good luck!
Thanks for all the suggestions! It will be hard for me to leave the house but I will give it a try. There's a yoga class Thursday evening that I really wanted to start taking.
As far as daycare, we are paying our daycare for two days a week yet Mirabelle hasn't gone in over 3 weeks due to the provider not really being available. The provider is busy running her own kids around to various activities so I'm currently looking for another provider. That's a whole long story and it's super stressful too.
Oh also maybe check with sunshinelady. I remember her having issues with her youngest and maybe she could give some suggestions on what worked for her. You could probably get a hold of her on FB, since she's not really around on here much.
And don't feel too bad. I've heard of several women sending there babies to DC and not taking a bottle very well. Eventually they figure it out, even if it's just a matter of being hunger enough to not fight it. She will be fine if she doesn't take a bottle as often as she usually nurses. The downfall will be she will probably just marathon nurse when you are together. Eliza wasn't the best at drinking bottles at DC and would then nurse almost all night long. It's not ideal, but co sleeping was a lifesaver.
