I wrote in SPAM that I just lost out on a job because of my pregnancy. They verbally told me an offer was coming, I brought up my pregnancy. Then the needed to "think about it". And I got the e-mail this afternoon.
"Thank you for taking the time to discuss the X position at Comany. At this time we will be pursuing other candidates for this role.
We will keep your resume on file for six months. After your maternity leave is completed please feel free to contact us again.
We appreciate your interest in Company, and we wish you the best of luck in your job search."
I have no intentions of pursuing legal action. For a couple reasons it is not worth it to me. I do want to reply, they should know this is NOT cool. I still want to leave it on good terms, despite this dick move I'm trying keep myself open to future opportunities at this company. I work in a small industry and good companies are hard to come by. But I want them to at least feel some serious guilt over what just went down.
Let's see what I come up with...
Dear HR person,
I'm very disappointed that the company decided I would not be suitable for this role based on my pregnancy. I was looking forward to the offer we discussed over the phone, this is not the news I was expecting. I am surprised the company could not come up with a better solution.
I hope that since I was a top pick for this role if any other opportunities come up I will be contacted.
I'm open to any suggestions.
