Should I care? Am I being ridiculous?

So Liam is still very attached to his soother. When we converted his crib to a toddler bed he asked for the soother so we just kept it attached and without fail, he turns it on every night at bedtime and 1-2x in the middle of the night when he wakes up. It works great at helping him fall asleep so I never attempted to take it away from him.

So now that we took the crib out of his room and gave him a big boy bed, I'm just not sure what to do with the soother. Right now it's sitting on stool next to his bed so that he can keep using it. I'm not sure if I should attempt to take it away or just let him keep it since he will eventually no longer want it, right?! He doesn't really have one toy he gravitates towards for comfort, so this soother is really it. Am I making a big deal out of nothing?

Is that like a night light or mobile? I don't think it's a big deal, especially if he turns it on by himself without getting you up. Right now it's comforting him and helping him sleep.

D is back to sleeping with his closet light, bedroom light, and hallway light on. We turn some off when we go to sleep, but sometimes he wakes MOTN asking us to turn some back on. I still don't know how he can sleep with all that light, but hey, he's sleeping.

This is his soother. It lights up and plays music in the beginning and then it will back off on volume and eventually the light will turn off. I think it runs for about 40 minutes at a time. I can't even begin to tell you how many C batteries we've gone through in the past 3 years on this thing alone.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Alex asks for his "mouse music" every night and nap - it's the fisher price scout puppy that plays lullaby music and glows. It helps him sleep so I don't have a problem with it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Hanna requests music to be played.

Avery has the same one and still uses hers. It sits on her nightstand. DD#1 also still has hers, although she doesn't use it all the time. I don't think it's a big deal at all. Adults use noise machines all the time, so why can't kids?

Does yours make a noise when the animals rotate? Avery's drives me crazy but she doesn't seem to notice.

Emma still sleep with her little monkey that lights up and plays music. It makes her sleep better, so she can keep it till she moves out!

sarahandeddie Yes! In fact I'm so used to the noise that I do a double take when they aren't moving since it's so much quieter.

Ok, now I know I'm being dumb to think twice about it. I don't know why it struck me so strongly this past weekend.

I also wouldn't worry about it. A friends little girl slept with a lava lamp type thing until she was like 9. She would wake up and watch the light and movement and fall back asleep.

I also wouldn't worry about it. If it helps him sleep, and causes no issues (which it won't) there is no need to change it.

I don't see a problem with it. DD has a couple of things in her bed that play music and light up to sooth her. Even my 7 year old requests that I play music softly because it helps him sleep.

T still uses his twilight turtle every night. I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I don't care if Abby sleeps with all her lights on, her lovey and her pacifier (yep still haven't taken that away) as long as she sleeps and doesn't wake me - or at least not often.

Well, Riley needs my H to sit in her room for a good 30-45 minutes to fall asleep and then when she wakes up MOTN, she cries until he sleeps on the floor next to her. So I would say a machine that plays music is much better than that. I agree not to worry for now!

I don't see a problem with it. Elise still uses her sound machine and I don't see that stopping any time soon!

I 2nd everyone else and I think it's fine. M uses his twilight turtle everynight still. I think he likes the extra light and I'm fine with that, as long as he goes to sleep!

I say if is works, let it be! You are totally right...there will come a day when he no longer needs it. Definitely not a big deal and you are lucky that he puts himself back to sleep with it.
