So, at 12 weeks pp I had Mirena inserted. I went this route because I tend to have longish periods (7 days) with moderate cramping and was assured that Mirena would most likely reduce or completely eliminate my period. YAY!! Initial insertion went fine, not painful, ultrasound showed it was in the correct place and i am told to come back in 4 weeks to check placement.
4 weeks later and it is sitting pretty low so they go in and try to move it back up without much success. I think it was initially around 2.5cm too low and when finished still about 1.5-2cm too low. This was a Nurse Practitioner doing the adjustment so she says to come back in 4 weeks with my actual doctor to see if she can get it back in place.
4 weeks later I go in, my doctor, along with her assistant and the ultrasound tech get the IUD back in place. I swear I was feeling like a freak show at this point. Apparently my uterus has a significant tilt to it, though it has never been mentioned before. I leave with the same instructions to come back in 4 weeks, blah, blah, blah...
That same week I decide to check the strings to see if I can feel them because by this point I have not had to check for myself, and I wanted to see if it was going to be easy. Well the strings are literally almost hanging out of my body so back to the doctor I go where sure enough, it is partially sticking out of my cervix so out it comes.
We decide that my uterus is not IUD friendly so they put me on Lo Loestrin FE which is a very low hormone pill. Great, whatever. I get to week three in my pack and here is my period. Now I know that it takes the body some time to adjust to new medications but I have never had an issue adjusting to a birth control before.
I realize that this is a doctor question but I'm just curious if any of you have had this happen. Will my period stay on it's original cycle with this pill or will it ever adjust to the 4th week of the pack. Should note that with this pill the 4th weeks consists of 3 regular pills, 2 estrogen only pills, and 2 placebo pills.
tl;dr holy crap that got long. My birth control situation is giving me fits!
