Open Letters anyone?

I had a rough afternoon. I feel like venting. Feel free to add your own, any time.

Dear people at the supermarket who openly judged me while my preschooler was throwing a tantrum,

Shove it. He's 4. 4 year olds throw tantrums sometimes. He didn't get a sticker because he took off while I was bagging our groceries, and I subsequently forgot to ask for the sticker because I was tracking him down. I turned down the employee who offered to go get me one because I want him to see that his actions have consequences. I get that not everyone does it that way, but I'm ok with my kid acting like a kid, even in public.

I was well-aware that his sandal came off during the aforementioned tantrum. Letting him take 30 seconds to try to solve his own problem does not make me an unreasonable parent. It makes me a parent who gives her kid a chance to solve his own problems before rushing in to save the day. He puts on his own shoes (and all other clothing items for that matter) every single day. I did help him when he proved to be too flustered to get the strap over his heel, but he had the opportunity to try and fix it on his own. I did not need you to inform me why he was standing in the entryway. I was waiting patiently, thank you.

Dear boss, I usually like you and respect your decisions because I have a lot of respect for you... But the fact you made me wear a 3" button for the past week pinned to my lab coat that says "ask me about our portal" does not make me feel like a medical professional. It makes me feel like an idiot. Wearing a button is not going to make anyone ask about a patient portal we already have to tell them about.

Dear DD, I know you are teething but stop biting people because it makes your teeth feel better. You are leaving marks on the babysitters grandkids and it's not nice!

Dear calorie counting, F you and your hate of all food that tastes delicious. Also F you for making my husband lose twice as much weight. It makes me want to eat more because I'm sad.

I'm really glad we came to the shore with your family so that you can get up early and then be too tired to stay awake longer than your kid. Don't worry, I'll put her to bed and you just sleep on the couch. I'll sit alone now on the porch and enjoy the weather while your whole lame ass family sleeps. Awesome time for me. I wish we were closer to my family and not yours.

Dear Person Whose Entire Business Is Building Swingsets,

DH and I have contacted you at least 3 times and we've yet to hear back from you. We really would like to set up things with you because a) your price is right and b) my in-laws really want to get the swingset/play area for my girls' birthday (which is on Saturday). I guess you must be doing so well that you can afford to snub potential customers though.


Dear China Buffet,

Why do you have to make such amazing walnut shrimp? I want to eat it all the time.

Dear DS, get back to being the chunk you were when you were born. Mamas too tired for these regular wake ups and stressing over your weight.

And...dear LCs at my hospital, yall rock. Thanks for helping me today even though your job is the new mamas in the hospital.

Dear van salesman,
When I tell you I need to go because it is past my kids' lunchtime, and I'm surprised they haven't had a meltdown yet but to please give me your card so I can get in touch with you later when I'm ready to make my buying decision, that is not your cue to get your manager to come offer me a high-pressure deal. That is your cue to give me your card and let the chips fall where they may. I'm not so sure I want that van anymore.

Dear DH, when our 2yo gets up in the middle of the night, it is not the time for stories, snacks, and general play. It's time to get her back in bed and asleep ASAP without waking her up more.

Also, toddlers have no concept of "staying up late when there's no school" so please stop telling me she can stay up past bedtime! Play with her during the day and let her sleep and STAY ON A SCHEDULE AT NIGHT!

carli, my DH is terrible for this too. He's been working late and thus wanting to keep her up past bedtime to spend time with her. I get it, but you're not the one who has to deal with a sleep deprived monster allllll day long.

redfraggle I pretty much was last night. It's hard enough being up with a newborn through the night, to add the toddler is just ridiculous. Plus it perpetuates the problem!
