My due date was August 15.
My first born arrived on Wednesday, July 29 at 2:12 pm. His name is Josi.ah Alex.ander. .
It started a week prior when I had less fetal movement at 36 weeks 3 days. I was sent to labor and delivery for monitoring and an ultrasound. The ultrasound suggested he was measuring small at 5lbs 3oz. I was told to come back each week for monitoring. On Tuesday, I met with my OB and had a ultrasound. The results showed that I had less amniotic fluid than the previous week. I was set up for an induction later that day.
Cervidil was started at 6am Wednesday morning. I accidentally pulled it out around 10 while using the bathroom. Cervical check showed 1cm dilated at that time. I then got the epidural around 10:30ish because the contractions were coming on strong. However, Josiah's heart rate would drop with each contraction so my doctor decided to not give pitocin. By, 1 o'clock I was 6 cm! I can't believe how fast I had progressed in such a short time. I was 10 cm at 2:00 and ready to push. After 12 minutes of pushing my 5lb 12 oz bundle of cuteness was born!
I was terrified of being induced because I feared a c section however it was a very smooth process for me. My new hurdle is breastfeeding. My nipples are ready to fall off!
What a fabulous induction--I'm thrilled for you! Good luck with BF -- I hope you have an amazing LC who gets you through this tough part. Hang in there!
(And if you decide it isn't for you, no judgement coming from here...just follow your instinct and love yourself as much as your baby does.)
