Any PA or NC People? Come In!

This is a long shot but I have to ask anyway!

I want to move. I thought this would be our forever home, but I hate Georgia. I tried, ladies...I really tried. 2+yrs here and I just can't make it work.

I don't know where I want to live, but I know what I DON'T want. Right now we're looking at Wake Forest, NC and possibly Carlisle, PA.

Those were recommended to me because of the "small town" feeling and good cost of living. Basically, I want quiet. Privacy, good schools, and NO EFFING SUBDIVISIONS. I just can't take it anymore.  I can't have my house humping the neighbors' houses.

If you live in or know about Carlise, PA or Wake Forest, NC please give me the scoop. I lived in NC for 3 yrs and I loved it, but that was 10 yrs ago. I'd be willing to live in an even sparsely populated area too. We're trying to stay Eastern USA because my entire family is in New England, and its impossible for me to see them anymore. I am NOT willing to move to New England because OMG SNOW. Eff that noise.

Anyway, I'm willing to entertain ideas and recommendations about any place, but especially about Carlise and Wake Forest. TYIA.

I will say that Wake Forest a little pricey comparatively to some other places in NC but of course "expensive" is relative.

H and my's goal is to eventually move up closer to Raleigh in one of the surrounding towns (Fuquay, Knightdale, etc) The cost of living is lower and you have the small town feel but are still pretty close to the bigger cities.

Knightdale has come up in conversations with 2 other people, you are #3!  I think its worth check out!

I lived in NC for 3 years, but that was 10 yrs ago.  We've spent the last 12 yrs moving around the damn country, and NC still has my heart.  We were in Raleigh-Durham area last time and I just loved it.
I will put these cities on the list this week, thank you so much!

I lived in Charlotte for a few years. Miss it terribly, and think it's a great place to raise a family. The school system is your regular city style, but there are a few great neighborhoods, and towns on the outskirts that are great.
