So, I got a new phone with INSANE amount of storage. I do plan to do some Skype time with BD's mom, because I have not heard the end of it "I thought you said you'd get Skype? What's wrong with your computer? Why don't you go get a webcam?" Since July 2013.
Those who Skype with BD's or their family... How often do you Skype? What kind of ground rules do you have set in place? Are they different for the grandparents?
I have no contact with BD, so I'm just mostly curious about what people do about grandparents.
We don't Skype, or deal with the paternal grandparents, but I call my soon-to-be-ex-husband each night at DS' bedtime so that they can say goodnight to each other, and he's supposed to do the same the two nights he has DS. I give them a few minutes to "chat" even though most of the time DS is more interested in a toy or something than he is in talking on the phone. I do make sure that if DS did something fun or exciting during the day that he shares that with his father and that he says Good Night and I Love You to his father at the end of the phone call (even though I'm not afforded the same courtesy on the nights DS is away from me, but whatever).
I would not set it up for more than once a week personally. For XILs... maybe every other week.
DD is 4 and can only really go 15 min MAX, so I let them know it will only be about 10 mins. No talking about Bio Father. Those are the only guidelines.
so far they have only skyped twice since they come down every couple months.
