I was going to hijack the UO post, but decided to start a new one. DD will be going to MDO in a couple weeks and I'm wondering what lunch boxes and storage containers everyone is using? I'm in the camp of not wanting to use 100 ziplocks if I can avoid it. Also, what are you feeding your LO for lunch? DD's lunches have to be bite sized, can't be warmed up, and she has to be able to feed herself. Since she hasn't mastered utensils things like applesauce are out. She is so finicky about eating meat too. Ideas?

We usually do:
turkey slices cheese cubes ritz crackers all the berries applesauce avocado yogurt WW bread with a little strawberry cream cheese (which she didn't like lol)
I really need more lunch ideas, specifically protein/veggies.. I feel like at dinner DD eats what we are having but for lunch it's so much harder to find "lunch" type food that she likes and will eat!
Elias likes the Plum Organics Teensy Fruits, and they come in little self-contained packages. What about baking muffins? I made some muffins on Sunday that had carrots, peas, dice ham, and cheese and the blog I got the recipe from said they were perfect to send for lunch. You could probably break them into chunks in advance, I would think.
I haven't started using them yet because dd is pretty finicky. One day she will eat something and the next she won't. So I am still sending jar food to daycare. But once that is gone I am going to start sending finger foods.
Things she will eat(sometimes):
String Cheese Earth's best cereal bars sliced ham sliced turkey yogurt banana (if I feed it to her) peanut butter sandwich pieces Banana spinach muffin - clicky chicken breast pieces chicken and cheese quesadilla waffles pieces bagel thins with cream cheese
And she will eat pieces of carrots and green beans for her dcp.

Lunch. Well we usually do string cheese, cut up apple, grapes, and peanut butter on wheat. It's basically the same every day. Some days yogurt or apple sauce.
I don't make anything fancy like muffins, or quesadilla. Basically bc I'm lazy.
Great lunch ideas! I've noticed I can pretty much feed DD anything in the morning, but as the day goes on she gets a lot more pickier. She is awful about eating veggies. If I give her baby food veggies she will eat the all day long, but in fresh form forget it. I made turkey meatballs with zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, spinach, sweet potato purée, and tons of spices. Some days she loves them and some days she won't touch them. I also made muffins with zucchini, sweet potatoes, and carrots which she likes. Next time I'll add some pineapple to make them a tad sweeter.
My LO gets pickier as the day goes on, too. At night I'm happy if he eats anything I offer at dinner. Yogurt seems to make up 95% of dinners for him now.
Jealous of all your LOs that eat meatballs! We tried them last night. LO liked the pasta, but rejected the meatballs. Mama is a carnivore, little boy! Eat some meat!
I just bought bentos from PBK for DS1. Haven't used them yet but they look great! Also - check the prices at pbteen - same bentos/containers, sometimes lower prices.
Hey, all! I haven't participated since making the switch to this forum board from the Bump, but I'm ready to jump back in if y'all will have me!
I have been in the same situation of trying to come up with creative lunches for DS.
I cam across these Yumboxes on Amazon that I'm thinking about giving a try. They are expensive, but there are no lids to lose and it's leak proof... Has anyone tried these?
Also, I came across this great blog of lunch options for little ones. Some of them aren't age appropriate yet, but the pictures are inspiring!
I have recently started giving DS hard boiled eggs and he LOVES them. That's a great source of protein and super easy to make!
We seem to be running an experiment to see how long a child can survive on Mac and cheese. Meat is awful, veggies are mostly offensive, fruit, cheese and crackers are life sustaining. Allergic to peanuts, eggs and soy. Ahhhh!
I made soup for DH and I and out of desperation and trying to find something DD would eat I gave her some. I used my immersion blender to mash it all up. She loved it. She also loves green smoothies.
