So Wesley failed the hearing screening in his left ear and was referred to the audiologist. Testing revealed a mod/severe loss. The good news is his other ear is fine, but we need to follow up with the ent.
What can we expect? My older son had a mild loss but the ent visit for him was about 5min long and involved the Dr saying he was most likely not going to be affected at all (and he doesn't seem to be) so obviously it will hopefully be a more thorough exam this time.
I'm trying to stay positive because as far as down syndrome related issues wesleys heart and hearing issues are relatively mild, but I feel bad for my scrawny little guy.
At our first ENT appt we were there for just over an hour. They did a hearing test, took pictures of her eardrums, and asked a ton of questions about her health history. Surgery was scheduled for tubes and adenoid removal. Good luck!!
Thanks guys. We had the testing done at an audiologist. They did the electrode & thing in the ears test (lol, that's the official name) and also checked his eardrums, which were fine. Are there other tests they do in newborns? Obviously. He's not gonna raise his hand when he hears a beep, lol
