So we are only at the beginning of this process, starting our PRIDE program this weekend. I have a question and I hope this doesn't sound stupid, I'm diabetic, a well controlled on 2 metformin per day. I plan to be up front about this information. I guess my question is can you be denied to become an adoptive parent if you have an illness like this?

As a former licensing worker, the answer is no unless your life expectancy or performance as a parent will be greatly limited due to a chronic illness. I don't know about your state, but in mine we require a medical release from a physician to become a foster/adoptive parent.
DH and I needed a physical filled out by our PCPs to say that we would be able to have a healthy life. I was severely overweight with no issues and my DH had testicular cancer and has MS and we had no issues. GL!
