Last day of our mini vacation/birthday celebration before we head home tomorrow. I fully plan on getting drunk while MH plays at the casino... you know, so he can win money to fund my drinks. #wereresourceful

I think we are going to Bush for the tour, Cardinal village for lunch, then some casino and Fairmount Park for ponies. DH is in charge of everything so I'm just going with the flow.
Ballpark Village is pretty fun, and the AB tour is cool (and free!) and you get to see the Clydesdales. I've never been to the horse races before but I hear they're a good time. Do you guys have friends/family in the area?
We live like 2.5 hours away so it's an easy road trip. We go over every year to do AB and Fairmount. I think they only race a few more weekends so we figured it was time to run over there. The kid we mentored just turned 21 this summer so we are taking him for the first time with us.
I am equal parts excited and annoyed because OF COURSE the appraisal on our house had to come back yesterday so now we are not going to get to sign things for a week. Which means the builder can't get started on anything til we get back. I am impatient. Sigh.
I want all of the drinks tonight but headache and getting up early in the morning makes that sound like a bad idea. This weekend though!
Awe! You're in the process of adopting them, right? It's been a minute since I've been around but I'm trying to remember. Both boys? I hope their first haircut was tons of fun!
Even your non-science-y answer is over my head. (Embarrassed face.)
Every drug you take gets inside your cells and binds to a target. The drug binding disrupts the normal function of that target. Soooo... Example: pain relievers. They often bind and block pain receptors (target). The message of pain isn't transported through your body so you don't feel pain anymore.
My lab is designing a drug for a specific cancer and we know its target. So, I was looking at how the two interact with each other. Do they really like each other? Not so much? Why?
You want your drug to bind its target and never let go. So we look at it and see if we can make it better.

How are there still people out there who think "Guess what, I'm pregnant.. JUST KIDDING" Facebook posts are acceptable, or amusing?
I have never seen someone do this, but, seriously?! Why??
I don't know why. Can't even begin to imagine. It's not clever, funny or cute. It was my husband's niece (his nephew's wife). She's in her late twenties and has 3 kids. I thought about commenting, but decided against it.

Evening, ladies. DH and I are drinking Bud Light out of Mason jars and watching the Patriots' first preseason game. Oh and he's cooking me Mac and cheese. Life is good
Non-science-y answer: I was seeing if I could understand more about how my small molecule drug was binding my protein.
Science-y answer: I was determing binding constants at different temps so I could calculate the enthalpy and entropy of my reaction. The last temp I ran was not worth it. I should've aborted the mission. I have three points. Three make a line. Who needed the fourth?
Now I have to set up my student's experiment before leaving. Blaaah.

I just signed up for Home Chef meal delivery (with a groupon)! I'm excited to try it. We will probably cancel after our groupon discount price ends but it will be fun to try some new meals.
Can't wait to go home and drink some tequila and pineapple juice. It's been one of those weeks where I want to go to the package store to get both a bottle of wine and a lottery ticket as a hail Mary.
When I hear package store, I immediately think post office. 'Cause that's where I pick up packages.
Ok wait dear husband, and I say dear cause I'm all wtf, swears he didn't know what a package store was until our bike ride yesterday... Dude really??? How's this possible ?

Is he Canadian? What does he call the store that you buy alcohol from?
