I can't handle even one more day of this awful week. My dog just brought a dead animal into my house and I refuse to move from the couch until someone comes to throw that shit outside. But as soon as I'm safe from all the dead things...wine.

I found a recipe for 2-ingredient brownies on Pinterest made from Nutella and eggs. I thought they were a genius idea, then I ate the whole thing by myself and now I'm really sick to my stomach. And the dead thing is blocking the bathroom.
I usually don't start drinking 5 minutes after getting home from work... but I did today. This work week has been stressful and frustrating and I just needed a beer.
akraus2015 - yuck!! I hope your step-dad gets there soon!

Ugh, I'm sorry that you had a shitty week too. I am determined that the weekend will be better than the week. Any good plans this weekend?

Nothing too exciting, which will actually be nice. Hanging out with friends tomorrow night and then hopefully relaxing Saturday and Sunday. Last weekend I ended up being busy so I'm really looking forward to just resting and taking it easy.
My husband is out of town for the night so I plan on getting drunk on Martinis and watching football. Oh happy day
MH was supposed to be gone tonight but now he's not sure if he's leaving tonight or tomorrow. I was kind of looking forward to wine and popcorn for dinner...but I'm pretty happy to get some time with him too, even if it means I have to eat real food (still having wine tho).

Non-science-y answer: I was seeing if I could understand more about how my small molecule drug was binding my protein.
Science-y answer: I was determing binding constants at different temps so I could calculate the enthalpy and entropy of my reaction. The last temp I ran was not worth it. I should've aborted the mission. I have three points. Three make a line. Who needed the fourth?
Now I have to set up my student's experiment before leaving. Blaaah.
akraus2015 - I'll be up in your hood this weekend (STL).
I just ate a taco salad out of the spinach box (not much was left). There is a barcode on it so it should just count as spinach, right?
Fun! What will you be doing??
I think we are going to Bush for the tour, Cardinal village for lunch, then some casino and Fairmount Park for ponies. DH is in charge of everything so I'm just going with the flow.

Even your non-science-y answer is over my head. (Embarrassed face.)
Yes, thank goodness, my step-dad is coming. One of the (few) benefits of living 6 miles from your parents...?
Ughhhhh that reminds me of my cocker spaniel. She had something in her mouth once. MH told me to grab it before she ate it. It ended up being a bird wing. Ewwwww.

Every drug you take gets inside your cells and binds to a target. The drug binding disrupts the normal function of that target. Soooo... Example: pain relievers. They often bind and block pain receptors (target). The message of pain isn't transported through your body so you don't feel pain anymore.
My lab is designing a drug for a specific cancer and we know its target. So, I was looking at how the two interact with each other. Do they really like each other? Not so much? Why?
You want your drug to bind its target and never let go. So we look at it and see if we can make it better.

That makes sense. Sounds like you have a really cool job!

Last day of our mini vacation/birthday celebration before we head home tomorrow. I fully plan on getting drunk while MH plays at the casino... you know, so he can win money to fund my drinks. #wereresourceful

Ballpark Village is pretty fun, and the AB tour is cool (and free!) and you get to see the Clydesdales. I've never been to the horse races before but I hear they're a good time. Do you guys have friends/family in the area?
