This is a 4 day course that is mandatory for us along with the home study and all I can say is WOW!! This is changing my preception of adopting so much. I walked into this thinking closed, private, baby, all neat and tidy. Until I got here. This should be mandatory for everyone. So much to learn so much to consider. Hugs.
I absolutely LOVED our PRIDE training classes. I learned so much and feel so much more prepared for fostering/FTA than I did going in. I agree that it should be mandatory for everyone. Most states have some sort of required training but not every state uses PRIDE.
I agree that all people should be required to take these classes! They are certainly eye-opening and, frankly, pretty scary. The training for foster licensing in CT is called TIPS-MAPP and it's more than 30 hours, which is still tough to get through all the material in that amount of time. I don't think any amount of classroom preparation is enough, but I can't imagine going into fostering without these types of classes.
