I made Nutella brownies today because my pregnant friend was coming over to check out my cloth diaper stash. Yeah, it wasn't because I was craving chocolate. She had one, I've had 4 ...
I'd be more than a little disappointed if my kids came to me one day and and wanted to become religious or go to church.
This MMS because we basically posted exact opposite UOs. I was expecting to be flamed but wasn't, and it doesn't seem like you will be flamed. This board seems to understand you can still respect someone and their choices (as long as it's not child endangerment) even if you don't agree!
Yeah I guess it's all our perception and experiences right? You lost a lot of friends because of your religion and I was always treated poorly because of my lack of religion. Can't we all just get along???
UO: Raw dough or batter is disgusting, and so is anyone who eats (or DRINKS) it. EWWWWWWW.
That's right, I'm calling you out @theultimatesak
It's okay if it's depression cake
Omg I licked the spoon and contemplated making another batch just for me to drink. Then I remembered that I do not have SAKs metabolism. And then I cried a little bit.

I can understand having issues that you believe in something and they believe in nothing. I can understand having issues that they believe in something different than you. I cannot understand having issues that you believe in nothing and they believe in something.

Sometimes the "nothing" is just not a God or higher power - its belief in science. So its really your second option. In my experience at least.

When I was pre-med, I was the oddball because I was fascinated by the science while believing in a Creator.
I'd get over it, it'd just be hard. J and I have had lots of discussions about it because of the dominant religion where we live and whether or not we'd let them attend with a friend if they wanted to. Of course we'd let them, but we'd have a very open and honest discussion with them about what they believe first, especially what they believe about our family. If they wanted to join a more liberal, progressive, accepting religion It would be weird, but I would totally support them.
Let me recap: sex, crockpots, and Jesus. What kind of UOs are these?
FYI: I am horniest on my cycle which just seems cruel. But you can use sea sponges for period sex. I am not crazy about crockpots either. And I love Pope Francis. Just recently he was doing a baptism of multiple babies and stopped during the ceremony to tell the moms it was ok to breastfeed if they needed to. One of the many cool things about him.

I don't mind period sex. That's what dark towels are for. Or just not giving a care because worse things have been on the sheets.
I don't get cake or brownie batter raw, but I'm all for raw cookie dough. Some days I'm really horrible and just buy it in the tube and eat the entire damn thing.
I was raised in an whacked out Lutheran Baptist thing. I'm going to hell because I called the she demon a bitch to her face, so whatever. I called her worse on the phone after she called my daughters defected mutants and racial slurs. DF is Quaker and I'm ok with them. I don't go real often yet, but my girls like going so I'm going more myself.
UO - Who the hell decided tights are acceptable as pants? At least wear a shirt that covers your underwear that's visible through the material. Leggings aren't my thing, but the heavier fabric ones are ok. But these may as well of been pantyhose. And it's apparently some idiotic fashion trend since there was a pack of college age girls wearing the tights as pants.
Oops- my text didn't show up: I really need to hang that up in my high school classroom. I wonder if I would get fired? Maybe I could make it into a rubric to satisfy the Department of Education?

I get irritated with people acting like avoiding dairy or gluten is sooooo haaarrdd. I mean it's not fun and I don't want to do it either. But if you're all "but what will we eat" there's a strong likelihood I will not very nicely say "how about any fruit, vegetable, or meat? " and even still lots of grains.
I'm much more empathetic about it in person, promise.

A lot of people are not confident in their ability to cook from scratch. It's a really big change for a lot of families.

For us, we avoid soy, peas, mushrooms and nightshade family plants. I'm not sure we could avoid gluten and dairy also. It's mostly the soy avoidance that's hard, I'd happily avoid dairy and gluten if I could use soy.

Wait, have you actually tried giving up a major part of your diet while in the throes of sleep deprivation and trying to learn how to breastfeed, Rachel? And then, did you find out that there is still lots of that food hidden in other seemingly innocuous foods? If you have, I will be much more empathetic.

Soy is such a sneaky bitch!! That makes avoiding dairy and gluten SO much harder.
When we figured out M's food allergies it was a huge shock to our family's system. Like stoney said, we didn't cook much from scratch and it was super overwhelming to suddenly have to cut out all foods. Plus our tastes were so much different. We were used to eating creamy, cheesy foods. Now that we've been doing it for so long its second nature to us, but I still vividly remember they days of wandering through the grocery store trying to figure out what we were supposed to eat. I was so proud when I made M's first bday cake. It tasted like cardboard but I was still so proud that I'd figured it out.
Plus for us it was the added fear of "if I mess up I could kill my kid." It's not like you could accidentally forget and try to do better next time. You suddenly had to be perfect at a new diet without exception.
