Flame all you want, ladies, but I'm not backing down.  I can't think of a single valid reason why every single school bus stops at every single house.  We live in a safe area with sidewalks... Why can't the kids walk down the street to the corner like we used to do back in the day?  Like I said, I understand exceptions, but not every single bus at every single house.

That brings me to my second complaint, which is the kids that ride around the neighborhood on their golf carts instead of getting on their bikes or walking the, maybe, quarter mile to their friend's house.  It's lazy, and their parents are letting them do it.  We have a child obesity problem in the US, and seeing these kids being babied like this and being allowed to be this lazy legitimately upsets me.  It's not fair to the kids.  This is my opinion, which I'm entitled to.

Are you honestly saying that EVERY school bus stops at EVERY house? That is absurd and I would be wiling to bet good money that it's an exaggeration - and as such, I'm finding it hard to take what you're saying even remotely seriously.

You have no idea why the buses are stopping where they are stopping. You have no idea why kids are riding golf carts instead of walking - you have no idea what kind of parenting is or isn't happening inside of those houses.

The buses in my area don't stop at every house, so I don't think it is some new, nationwide policy. Maybe it has something to do with the current temperature, or a disability? Who knows. No one likes getting stuck behind the bus but it should run about the same time everyday which would make it pretty easy to avoid. 

Are all of those kids on the golf carts obese? I doubt it. The issue is far too complex to be summed up in one statement. Childhood obesity doesn't just stem from laziness. Are kids today more apt to stay inside and play video games than we were? Probably. But it has a lot to do with nutrition, access to fresh, healthy foods, etc. Some families can't afford fresh meat, dairy, and produce, others don't have access to it. I'm betting the families with golf carts don't have that problem. Some children may have legitimate health issues that cause them to be overweight. You just don't know and you're over generalizing, plain and simple.

Plenty of kids who were obese at my school didn't have golf carts and still had to walk to and from the bus stop.

I am so fucking jealous of the kids with golf carts! I want a golf cart. I would ride the shit out of that thing. That is seriously the only reason I go golfing with H, to drive the cart.

Shit that was super off topic. Getting stuck behind a school bus, or an amish buggy, or a farm tractor can be annoying, I get that. Being annoyed by the delay is normal, blaming childhood obesity on school buses is not.

And I'm here to tell you, that your opinion is wrong. The "fancy flashing" lights on a school bus are a necessity....safety and all. You cannot pass a stopped school bus with their fancy lights. What if a kid was late for the bus, and while you were being flagged around it, decided to run towards the bus and you ended up hitting them?!?!

These are children's lives we are talking about, and keeping them safe is the number one priority.

You are an adult, so if you have a problem with these bus stops, YOU should plan your day accordingly, and leave earlier.

NO, Kids see a bus, and run towards it. The lights are for you to stop, not the kids.

Me too! Or I avoid residential streets if I must go out. It is inconvenient to get stuck behind a school bus during pick up or drop off hours. But if it is my convenience vs. a child's safety I would hope the child's safety would take precedence every time! I'm sure those child proofing plastic things on drawers and doors will get annoying, but I would rather be slightly inconvenienced than have my child drink bleach.
