If they drink as much and as often as they say they do, I agree. DH and I rarely drink but I would never allow us both to be intoxicated if there was no other sober adult around. We've had to take a kid to the ER late at night. It wasn't such an emergency that it required an ambulance but it wasn't really something we wanted to put off until morning, either. I just won't take the risk that something could happen and neither one of us would be sober enough to handle it.

DH and I will have a drink most evenings we're off together after DD goes to bed. We sit and talk and catch up. I usually have just one, but the most I ever have is 2 unless we have people over for an event. I have no idea if anyone would consider that drinking a lot or not, but I'm sure a decent amount would. Usually ends up being 3-5 nights a week. 5 nights is more when the weather is nice because we sit on the patio.
I totally agree! I rarely turn down a drink, but realistically, have 1-2 drinks MAYBE 3x/week. I don't have time to really enjoy it any more than that, and I would rather have my calories in ice cream most of the time!

I don't vacuum enough- maybe every two weeks? The dog hair is excessive but you'd think the earth opened up and the depths of hell were bubbling up when I do. M crawls around following me crying and Zoey whines and Jackson tries to kill the vacuum so half the time I have to quarantine him and he just howls and howls...
I never vacuum. I hate it, the dog, the baby, it's just terrible. That's a job for H - when I have dog and baby out on a walk!

Hm. Maybe I'll start doing it and send them out! Brilliant idea.
I try not to ask DH to do much because I stay at home. He takes out the trash and evenings we rotate who cleans up dinner and who gives M a bath. That's about the extend of his house hold responsibilities. That and he walks the pups in the morning and we rotate evenings since I take them in the middle of the day.
Totally makes sense. We theoretically split things 50/50 since we both work, so since me and the vacuum do not get along, that's his job (I clean the bathroom, because he hates that as much as I hate the vacuum)
1) I agree on the too much drinking on some of the board-but agree it may be a show. I do enjoy a beer or wine with supper or after LO is in bed, but max 3x a week...and usually less. We're terrible at keeping booze in the house.
2) I vacuum once a month...if I remember. But I do sweep a lot. (Gross I know)
My UO: I don't agree with releasing all the info from Ashley Madison, I completely disagree with what that site does, but the hackers are going to cause a lot of people a lot of stress and heartache. And possible identity theft.
I agree about the Ashley Madison thing. It seems that email addresses are on there when people didn't even sign up and it's causing stress in marriages. Also, even if some asshole really did sign up now their spouse is at risk of having their personal info breached (addresses, shared credit cards, etc) and they're an innocent party. It's really wrong in so many ways.
I guess you don't have to verify your email when you sign up, either, so you could have put in any random email, and it doesn't have to be yours. Credit cards are the only real records.
I guess my UO is that I vacuum weekly. My cats shed like crazy and make a mess with their box. Plus I cannot stand stepping on stuff.
I totally side-eye my neighbor. I'm sure I'm being over judgy but my neighbor sweeps and then leaves piles around her house, I get it life is busy with a little (she has a daughter who is 9 months old) but I'd rather pick it up then have to keep my kid from getting into said pile. She mentioned the other day that she looked over and her daughter had the legs of a palmetto bug aka florida roach sticking out of her mouth. Umm disgusting.

I can't remember the last time I vacuumed, but that's what the cleaning lady is for. Thank goodness, because I know it wasn't nearly often enough when we didn't have her. Also, our vacuum crapped out on us a few months ago so now I can't even spot clean between her visits. UO my kids don't get baths every night as a part of the bedtime "routine." I don't think daily is necessary, especially on their skin.

We have the same problem at our house I actually have hubby take DD for a walk with the dog or else it's mayhem
I guess my UO is trying to potty train a kid before they are ready and will tell you is pointless.
Holy shit, I vacuum every other day...at least. I LOATHE carpet. I can't stand when I feel little tidbits of stuff on the bottom of my feet. Thankfully all of my kids and animals are immune to the vacuum and don't mind it.

C goes on the potty in the morning when she wakes up, and after naps she thinks it's fun and it saves me a couple changes. I'm by no means potty training but just getting her accustomed to it. My mom had both my sister and I potty trained by 1.5yrs and with number two on the way I thought why not get a little head start.

1. In regards to drinking, I don't see a point in having one or two drinks. This might be coming from my raging drinking college days but if I'm drinking I plan to get drunk hence why I basically never drink anymore because I don't get that drunk. I drink water for the most part and if I'm out for dinner or something and I had choose between a drink or soda, I'd prob choose soda. If it's girls night then I will attempt to get drunk but it usually doesn't happen lol.
2. I don't care if someone wants to potty train as long as they are not forcing the issue, I don't think that's helpful at any age and it's terrible to see children have anxiety over accidents or whatnot.
Oh! I finally have one. There has been a huge backlash on the FDA approval of OxyContin for pediatric patients. I think its totally unfair. People are thinking of these kids with cancer pain or other terminal illnesses. If you dont know how the drug works, dont judge it.
Wow I'm so jealous of you all; I have to vacuum every single day. I cannot handle clumps of dog hair laying throughout the house, and our husky sheds way too much to not. (Totally regret getting a dog like that, note to self in the future). We do have a roomba but it doesn't work on high pile rugs and also DS is totally obsessed with it.

What are your thoughts on children with cancer and terminal illnesses using medical marijuana for pain management? Just curious.
I think its great in certain circumstances. I am licensed in a state where it is illegal for me to prescribe, but I do think there are cases where it is beneficial and I would prescribe it if I could. Its not that it has to be smoked. There are lots of options out there. I think the stigma around it is what causes all the problems. And seriously if their prognosis is terminal, I dont think its ethical to deny something that would improve their quality of life. Personally, if it were my child, i would give it to him if appropriate.

I never really thought about medical marijuana for children until I read the Oxycontin article today. Then it popped in my head. Like you said, there are alternative ways to ingest (food, vaporizer, etc) that aren't smoking. I think as a parent I would prefer that to Oxy but I'm sure there are also cases where Oxy would be appropriate. I'll admit I don't have a lot of knowledge about it other than it can be highly addictive.
I've heard of Rx for epilepsy treatment, too. I don't know any of the science, but it's for sure interesting to think about as an option. If it were my kid with the issue, I'd be researching deep in to that sort of thing.

Technically it's less addictive than oxycodone, but it is generally still an addictive medication.

This became a big deal in my state. There were families that moved their child and one parent to Colorado so they could get medicinal marijuana for their kids. A law finally passed that the oil could be prescribed here for certain conditions, but it's still illegal to produce here and it's illegal to cross state lines with it, so the law is basically useless.
1. I don't drink at all, so that'd be a UO on some parts of this site. Alcohol has always tasted disgusting to me. Now soft drinks...those are my vice. I try to limit them to once a day though.
2. Before baby, I vacuumed maybe every 2 months or so. Now I try to have cleaners come once a month. They failed to come for August, so I had to vacuum last Friday. Ugh. I have a dog that would like to murderize the vacuum, too. He gets crated and yaps angrily the whole time.

Vacuum weekly? Once a month? I feel like I vacuum every day!! If not, every other! The dog hair and the dust is a problem that needs to be managed constantly. I can't sit on the floor and play with DD if there is dog hair all over the place. DH does the vacuuming downstairs and on the stairs and I do the bedrooms.
I have a friend who is an serious neat freak but she never vacuums and she has a crazy shedding dog! The place is disgusting and smells so bad!! I can't even put DD down on the floor or the couches be the dogs hair is everywhere!!

I vacuum everyday, sometimes 2x. I am in love with my Shark Navigator. It rocks my socks. Ds1 hates it so I have to do it after he is in bed, unless I can't take it. i also enjoy mopping the floors on my hands and knees. Cleanliness is godliness. The laundry can go fuck off though. Hate it.

Folding laundry is the worst.
Don't mind folding as long as I can sit down. But I hate to put it away.
UO- I'm hoping I can work part time or SAH/start a side business once my kids get into school, and am planning on working while they are young.
I feel like all of my friends are opposite.
Me too! They get so much more from daycare/preschool than I could give them if I was a SAHM while they're little, but I really want to be able to be home when they get home from school.

Yes! I remember always having a sense of comfort knowing that my mom was there when I left work and when she picked me up. I wokld like to take them to their after school activities and still have time to see them in the evenings. And I would like to be there on their days off, etc. I don't know if it will be able to happen, but I'm hoping we can make it work.
And, I'm a good mom but bad at corralling her all day at this age and trying to find set activities for her. I do better with 0-12 and about 3 and up.
