I'm not sure if this has been discussed here yet or not!
Has anyone started planning LOs first birthday party yet? My LO was born 12/22 so we are having the party on 12/19. It's crucial in our families to at least have the date picked out far in advance. Any ideas for themes?

All we've done is set the date (12/5) so family can plan accordingly. No theme ideas and no thought given! With DS by 8 months old we had his whole party planned. The second gets neglected in so many ways! His birthday is in June and we did a dinosaur themed first birthday with bbq ribs, salads, and apple pie.

I got lost in the world of pinterest for about 2 hours today! Some cool ideas I found were a hot chocolate bar, "watch baby grow" pictures, and a baby time capsule. The time caosule would be notes written to LO to be opened on her 18th birthday. I also decided if we do the hot chocolate bar we will have peppermint schnapps for the adults! Another cool idea was grilled cheese sandwich and tomato shooters. All this sounds like something I would be able to do but I think I'm more likely to end up on pinterest fails!
I think we'll do a small party, just our immediate families. Nothing too elaborate. Hanging up some pictures, maybe some balloons and streamers. Definitely cake!
Her birthday is 12/1 so we'll do the party the weekend after Thanksgiving. MH's parents will be in town from Texas so that should work well
Lo's bday is a Saturday so we will do it then. DH wants the party here at the house. I don't because I have done it here before and it so much work! But he is also our third kid and I want to keep it small so maybe here is the right choice. Not sure yet. There won't be a theme though. Just regular first bday decorations, some food and a cake!

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm very torn between what to do whether I should have a big party or just a small gathering with my immediate family and DH's family. If we do the big party, it's an all or nothing thing. We would have to invite the extended family members and heaven forbid we only do select people.
STM+, will I regret not doing a big party if I choose to be sensible and do a small get together?

I think we've settled on the winter onederland theme as well! We're having it at my in-laws place. I don't want to go all crazy with stuff though. We will see!
Probably doing chuck e cheese somewhere between my sister's and my place. We haven't decided a date yet but since he will be 1 year on 12-23 I would want to have it either early or late. I am not sure about a theme but may not get that into themes.
We are doing a little pumpkins theme since our kids were so early (10/30) and we will be doing dips and desserts for food. I am torn about trying to have it outside or at our house. It could be in 80's or it could be snowing here at that time of yr.
I created an Amazon wish list, added snowflake decor and a burlap banner.
Possible food- chili with all the fixings, hot cocoa bar, cupcakes and smash cake
It will be just family but that will be 20+ people. We have only done family for DD1's birthdays (1yr-3yr) and have no regrets. At this age, its a party for the parents not the kid. We don't have a date picked yet, but will be early January (DD2's bday is 1/2).

Those invites are super cute! I'm glad you posted because I had forgotten about etsy!
I'm taking my baby to Disneyland. We'll do a small family party. I rather spend the money for a huge over the top party on a trip to Disney. Might make it a tradition since my little guy's birthday is so close to Christmas.
