Those who like to decorate or whoever xanthepants or justbeth I need to buy window treatments for my new house. There is a big window above the sink in the kitchen and another above the breakfast bar. Then a window and door in the dining room. It is all open so I feel like they need to match? The walls are beige so I'm pretty sure any colour would work. What colour should I go with? And also what style would fit best above the sink and by breakfast bar. They are about 53 and 65 inches wide and 43in tall. Help. I don't have a good eye for these things! Lol

I am no decorator, but I really love white curtains. They look so clean and bright. We have a window in our kitchen and sliding door in the dining room that are on the same wall and I wanted white curtains for both but H wanted something with more privacy so he picked out a pale yellow for one and bluish gray for the other and I hate them so bad. When I have more money I'm buying nice lined white drapes for both.

Yes! I had these really nice linen-ish looking white ones in my last house. I feel like I always gravitate to white because they look clean. I just wasn't sure white would be a good choice for the deck door/ window. I feel like they would get dirty quicker? Idk.

What about these kind for the door? They'd stay out of the way. Might stay cleaner.
Idk, I'm really not much help. Haha. It might be easier to figure out how you're going to decorate the rest first instead of starting from curtains (unless there is something you really really love) and having to work everything around them.
Id probably do sheer half curtsins on the two windows, so the bottom half is covered but you can still see/get light through the top half. Then when aimeefarrahfowler recommended for the door if you will use the doors often.

Can I ask for help too? I'm in the same boat with our house and totally at a loss for the kitchen curtains. This is a work in progress picture but it's the only one I have right now.
About the doors in your house...I really struggle with decorating, but I read a thread recently where the woman chose a nice indoor/outdoor fabric because it would be a high traffic area. That way she could wash it and not stress over every smudge. Maybe something like that would work for you?

We have a pretty similar layout, but the doors are a bit further away. We have the panel curtains from Ikea in white for the doors, and we really like them. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow, if I can remember how.

Poop! I had this huge response typed and poof! Anyway- I'm a fan of roman shades in white or rattan or linen for this windows. And perhaps wood wide slat blinds for the doors for bot privacy and maximizing light at the doors. Window treatments are the hardest thing for me!

Check out JCP for ideas. I just got new drapes for our formal living room, dining room, and master bedroom. They usually have a good sale going on. My next room is our family room. Curtains are so hard to choose!
Great suggestions here! I'll be on the lookout for curtains/shades/blinds soon for our LR, FR, and kitch too! I love and loathe window treatments!
Totally forgot about JCP though. They do always have a lot of options, I think I'll check them out too!
The hardest thing lately is spending time looking at things and comparing them.... Taking time to decide. I want things done ASAP, but it's hard to shop for house stuff with a toddler!
