Solids? Yuppers. Trying to work more in. Really loves her fruit and the mesh feeder has been great for this.
Questions/AW? Nope
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Ugh. Feed in a quiet place, try to force it a bit, take a break and try again later.
GTKY: y'all, I'm bad at this, especially before 6am. Gimme a good gif, meme, joke, video link, whatever. It's show & tell! Fail.
How old is your LO? 6 months and a little over a week
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Mainly pumping, some nursing
Solids? Sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, pears
Questions/AW?
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Humming or singing/talking while nursing. She is a hand in my mouth nurser, so I suck on her fingers or "chew" her hand to keep her focused on me

How old is your LO? 6 months ... not sure how that happened.
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing and pumping at work
Solids? A mix of purees and BLW - so far she hates anything green.
Questions/AW? 6 months woop!!!
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Dark, quiet room whenever possible. I tie a piece of ribbon to my bra strap, the shininess fascinates DD and she plays with the ribbon while she nurses.
GTKY: y'all, I'm bad at this, especially before 6am. Gimme a good gif, meme, joke, video link, whatever. It's show & tell!
Solids? Going to discuss them with the pediatrician today.
Questions/AW? I wanna know how all the other teachers are handling pumping at school.
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? When he gets really distracted/squirmy I stop for a minute and let him do whatever contortion or roll he's doing, then try again. Of course, it's a bottle so I don't know if that would work for BFers.

How old is your LO? He'll be 7months on Saturday. Eek, how did that happen!
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing
Solids? He's blown through most of the single ingredient stuff. We got the all clear to add anything we wanted to last week. Except for egg whites, milk, peanut butter, and honey.
Questions/AW?
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Dark quiet room is our biggest defense. He's terrible at NIP right now. He has to look at EVERYTHING! We mostly plan around him only eating at home.
GTKY: y'all, I'm bad at this, especially before 6am. Gimme a good gif, meme, joke, video link, whatever. It's show & tell!
Nursing. Trying to pump to build up a stash, but my supply won't have it.
Solids?
We introduced rice cereal, which DS now hates. So I've done a bit of BLW- he's gnawed on carrots, apples, French fries and guac. That's about it. Looking forward to getting the go ahead on more solids.
Questions/AW?
We've been exclusively BF. I haven't gotten AF. Anyone else in this boat?
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies?
Switch breasts several times. Quiet. Mommy & baby only or its "SQUIRREL!!!!"

Yes. The eating at home thing.... I've begun to loathe trying to feed DS in public. He HATES being covered. And the world doesn't need to see my breasts. But it's a struggle feeding outside the home.
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing with just the occasional pumped bottle
Solids? Yep she looove it all. We started with blw but it was obvious we should add in purees because she was getting pissed. She is so happy to actually get food. She still gets blw type solids with almost every meal and likes it more now that she is getting the purees.
Questions/AW? How many times a day are you feeding solids? I feel like DD is ready to up it but I am not sure.
Mom2Ms I still haven't gotten AF either. I almost wish it would make an appearance at this point instead of always waiting for it.
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Tell H to shut up? being as quiet as possible is usually the best and using the cover out. She isn't a huge fan but once I get her eating she does much better if she doesn't have a visual distraction.

How old is your LO? 6 months tomorrow!
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing and pumping at work
Solids? We're waiting until after his appt on Wednesday
Questions/AW? AW: I can't believe we made it to 6 months. In those early days it was definitely a day to day decision. Now I am confident that we can make it a year.
Question: I currently pump at 9, 12, and 3. We just increased his bottles to 4oz (3 of them, though some days he only has 2 if he has a long nap, etc). How do I go about cutting out a pump session?
I think I should be able to get 12oz in 2 sessions, but I have a big freezer stash if not.
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Good question! I need to tell DH to leave us alone while I nurse, haha. Sometimes I hold his hand to keep it from flailing around. Mostly I just try to go to a quiet room.

How old is your LO? 6 months or 28 wks? I think that's what the email thing said.
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Just pumping. I'm so over it but I'm like in the last 3 miles of a 1/2 marathon... I can do it. It's only s 5k. Lol
Solids? Made our way thru veggies. Started fruits last night with peaches. She's all about the food. We do cereal in the morning and then veggie/fruit in the evening.
Questions/AW? For those who are doing purée -- we did veggies. Working on fruits. Did you just do a mix after that? I'm good with doing one for like 3 days but after that what do we do?! I've googled but there's no real guide.
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? No real problems when doing her bottle but lord the changing table. I have a stash of toys that are only right there. They keep her attention long enough to for a diaper change.

How old is your LO? 6.5 months
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing pumping on occasion Solids?
Questions/AW? How is everyone whose using breastmilk in rice cereal heating it up? I normally pump MOTN then save that milk to mix with the cereal but I know your not supppsed to microwave BM. My kid definitely prefers the cereal warm.
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies?
Dark quiet room is all I got. My kid is the king of distraction

How old is your LO? 6 months, 1 week-ish
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? All of the above since my natural supply suddenly dropped: Nursing primarily, pumping before bed, mixing expressed milk/formula into solids to supplement since she hates bottles
Solids? Ok'ed for stage 2 solids. (aggiebug, per your question, we're doing 2-4oz 3x a day now. If it weren't for the drop in my breastmilk supply, we still would've been recommended to go to 2x per day.) So far she hasn't encountered a food she doesn't like...knock on wood! (rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potato, carrots, apple, prunes, pears, peas)
Questions/AW? DD gained some weight back at her follow-up appointment! So relieved!
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Dark room with white noise machine on, munching on her hand that she puts in my face, switching sides frequently if needed

How old is your LO? 6 months
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing and pumping at work.
Solids? Rice cereal and some purees. Now that she is 6 months we're aiming for at least once a day.
Questions/AW? My parents kept pushing how we needed to start solids so E would start sleeping through the night, but so far it doesn't seem to have had any effect. Has anyone noticed any correlation between solids and number of wake ups?
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? DD seems to get more distracted at different times of day, morning feedings are the worst and we have to sit quietly in her room. On days she goes to day care and I feed her when I get home she is so excited for the boob that nothing can distract her. For a while wearing the cover helped, now I think it just distracts her more as she flails around trying to pull it off.

Re warming breast milk -- do you have a keurig or a water dispenser. I get hot water in a cup and put the bottle Or bag of bm in it to warm it.

dmorgendorffer solids haven't helped with our night wakings either. He doesn't really care for them though
Anyones elses kid just not excited about food? He is always grabbing at our plates/cups and shows tons of interest in food and can sit up on his own really well. He loves the spoon and swallows and everything but he just looks pissed the whole time. He also projectile puked carrots after one bite. Weve just done cereal banana and carrots so far. Attempting squash and sweet potatos this week
michelle142, love that ribbon idea. DD is really into ribbons / tags I think I will give that a try.
No AF yet. I don't miss it but combined with my paranoia about the minipill I think I may just POAS once a month to be sure...
Edited for spelling
I did the same for DS when I nursed him. It has worked like a charm both times
Another thing I've seen used are "nursing necklaces". It's a baby-safe necklace that mom wears while nursing. ETA: Etsy has tons: www.etsy.com/market/nursing_necklace

Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? Nursing
Solids? Working on BLW
Questions/AW? DD hates the bottle but her Pedi said start giving her about and oz of water a day. Should I just go straight to a sippy cup?
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? HA coping mechanisms.. there is none. I've even tried a blanket. She pulled it off and almost exposed me at the park. Lol

michelle142 I have one of those sorts of necklaces. DD loves chewing on it when I'm holding her, but it's more of a distraction for her when she's nursing. I guess it depends on the kid. However, I'm intrigued by your ribbon idea! Gunna have to try that.
AppropriateChocolate The most success we've had so far with DD getting any liquid has been with the Munchkin 360 cup. Only a couple sips, but more success than bottles or sippies for her so far.

J likes the 360 sippy cup as well. But she does pretty well with anything except a straw.

dmorgendorffer we've seen a decrease in night wake ups since solids started, but I read somewhere that there's not been shown to be any correlation. I'm guessing coincidence.
No AF here yet knock on wood. On minipill. Sister is at a year of nursing and hers isn't back, so I'm hoping I follow her lead. I poas about once a month when I notice symptoms that could be preg related.

How old is your LO? 6 months and 1 week
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing?Nursing together, pumping and formula on workdays
Solids?Bring um on. Kid loves everything. When do you stop introducing each thing individually? I guess we started this weekend with pouches that had things we hadn't done yet. He seemed ok.
Questions/AW? Anyone given their baby an open cup? I might give him one with a little water so he stops trying to steal my glass.
What're your coping mechanisms for these strong distracted babies? Add me to the SUH club. Let him snack and cover up if he's being fussy and keeps popping off.
GTKY: y'all, I'm bad at this, especially before 6am. Gimme a good gif, meme, joke, video link, whatever. It's show & tell! I'm on mobile so links and gifts are hard. Many it's a PITA on my phone. I'll try to do it when I'm on a PC.
