Hi All,
We met with our expectant mother for the 2nd time today. Our first visit went great and we felt really good after it. She's a lovely person. She decided that she wanted another meeting with her Mom present (that was today).
We got there today, unfortunately her Mom was unable to make it. The agency director started with saying that the expectant mother wanted to tell us something in person. She then blurted out "I pick you" And the crying starts again (We all cried at the first visit too). She said she knew after the 1st meeting (shortly into it) but wanted to process it and make sure she was making too quick of a decision. Then ... She gave us a gift. It was a bag with some onesies, a scrapbook ... with the ultrasound picture in the front. Needless to say, we lost it again.
She is still deciding on openness ... and I can understand that (as much as I can from reading articles/posts/blogs etc.). We talked through some options that might work for her while she is deciding what she wants to do. We're not going to rush anything and hope that she will be able to do an open adoption in time. We talked for almost 2 hours. She is due in 3 weeks. We're going to try to do dinner before she gives birth ... I hope it will work out.
She is such a sweet, caring, loving person ... we feel very luck that she picked us (so far).
Oh and she hadn't picked a name ... she likes what we picked and had been calling her that and plans to put it on the original birth certificate.
