Looks like this is the real deal. I've been having contractions with a sporadic pattern since 4 pm. I've been snoozing between them about 3 hours and they've maintained 10 min apart and a min long, but are gaining intensity. Finally couldn't lay through them anymore so I'm up and debating calling my doula for support or waiting. I wish they'd get closer together!
9:30 AM- Still in early labor. I keep progressing to contractions for over a minute every 5 min that I can barely breathe through for an hourish, then dropping to every 10-12 min that are less intense then gradually gets more intense and closer together. Trying to dose in between the longer breaks but I'm really tired and confused at this patter. Doula should be here soon to check me and lend some insight. The intensity of these remind me of the end of labor pitocin contractions last time, just shorter and more spaced apart.

I had increasingly intense contractions ranging from 6-13 min apart the rest of Friday. I was having back labor, so my doula and H took me to the chiropractor to try to get baby out of his posterior position. I was tired and hurting so at about 6 I decided to get a hot shower and try to lay down. The shower sped things up so that I couldn't lay down. The contractions became closer quickly and by 6:30 PM I was in active labor and called my doula. When she arrived at 7:30 they were 2-3 min apart and I was working so much harder to stay on top of them. My first check showed I was at least 6 cm dilated and that baby was no longer posterior. I happily hopped in the birthing tub. Some time after 8 they picked up again, I kicked my parents out of my bedroom, and my doula decided it was time to call the midwife. At 9:12PM my water broke and the urge to push took over my body. It was the only time I felt out of control and scared I couldn't do it. My midwife was still on her way but my body was pushing on its own so doula jumped in and assisted. at 9:25PM our little nugget slithered out and into the tub, where I was told to catch my baby. I pulled him out of the water and onto my chest. It was an incredible moment I will never forget. Our sweet Eli.jah Gi.soo weighed 6 lb 9 oz and was 20 inches long and the picture of health. His middle name is pronounced GKee-soo and is his Daddy's Korean name. He is an exact replica of his Daddy, too. He nurses like a champ in marathons of over an hour- our midwife even called him a little Piranha!
Our midwife made is shortly after we made it to the bed and was shocked I was smiling until she saw the baby on my chest. I'm so incredibly thankful for our amazing doula who stepped up to the plate and delivered our son like she'd done it solo at hundreds of births. I'm so so happy I got the home birth I always dreamt of, and even more happy to finally be a Mama! How is this real life?!
