I am getting so excited for Christmas! Too soon? I love Sept -Dec! so much!
Nope! I'm gearing up for the holidays! I absolutely love Christmas and wish I could make it last longer than the month of December, but I refuse to be someone who starts Christmas decorating until after thanksgiving.
I actually was just searching etsy for 1st christmas outfits for dd .
Oh yeah, and finally have our six month appointment today! The grandparents love to play "guess the baby's stats". I know we're not the youngest baby here, but I always feel behind on the stat threads.
Our appointment isn't until Sep8 so you're not last!
aggiebug I'm sorry about your pooch! I didn't know you could give regular Benadryl to animals.
The things you learn yep it's quite safe and we use it a lot actually. She will get a benadryl before I vaccinate her for the rest of her life. Of course don't give any meds to your pets without first consulting your vet - aka not me. (not that you would but you never know who is reading and would).

miniwheat, I love Sept - Oct. But November, December and January and just way too crazy for my liking. Between holidays and birthdays, it's just nuts. Especially December, we have 4 different Christmas things and 6 December birthdays within immediate family. It's exhausting.
Not to mention that after November, the weather here just plain sucks

I'm indulging in one of my favorite guilty pleasures lately..Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Making the Team. DD is jumping away and none the wiser. We are going to walk after this.
Question--what are some good art supply gifts I can give to my three year old niece? Her party is tomorrow and my sister said that she is into art projects and taking care of babies/animals.

Bingo Daubers -- I know it sounds ridiculous, but my 3 year old could sit there with a pack of multi-colored bingo daubers and some paper and make dots for HOURS. They're great for toddler scavenger hunts too.
danitaec do you know if another house is taking care of them?
Dewormer is relatively easy to treat through the food, but flea meds can be toxic so if someone else is treating them you could cause a problem.
Can you touch them at all? Or is it just feeding and leaving? Also are you sure they are neutered? What about vaccinated minimally with rabies.
I don't know where they come from. There's only been one that's ever had a flea collar or anything. We had one that came with the house, but my a-hole neighbors use a critter trap occasionally and... take them away? Kill them? I don't know.
The last one was obviously not taken care of, emaciated, junky eyes, etc. Most will eventually let you pet them (as much as a cat will allow), or try to come in the house. The last couple boys have been intact, so I assume no one is caring for them. I sound like a crazy cat lady, but I just really want to do right by them.
danitaec just because they are intact doesn't mean someone else isn't caring for them.
The best thing you can do is try and get them neutered and one good exam. I can't recall where you live approximately. But look for a trap and release program, they neuter, vaccinate and release them back where they were. Population control is huge. Then I suggest buying a ton of breakaway collars and keeping them on them if you can and plan to give them flea meds. It kind of signifies someone is taking care of them so they don't get over dosed.
There are otc dewormer out there. Look for pyrantel

Too soon! *clutches the 90+ degree warmth* not ready for the temp to drop!
It's felt like Fall weather the past 2 days here. I don't know what happened, but I'm actually not entirely opposed. I don't like 90+ degree heat. I much prefer somewhere in the 70s.
Morning, ladies! I'm getting very sad as I go back to work on Monday, and that makes today my "last day" with A! Wahhh! Teacher work week starts and I'm a bit annoyed because, as team leader (again!), my week is filled with meetings when I really need to be in my room! There's a first year teacher on my team (there are only 3 of us as it is), a summer program was in my room so there is literally NOTHING remaining furniture-wise or on the walls, and open house is Thursday morning. Sorry to be a whiner, but I hate feeling like I'm already behind (especially since I've been in maternity leave brain fog), yikes!

DD has slept 1 hr for her first nap of the day the past 2 days. Since her norm is usually 30 minutes, it's been glorious...except today she just sneezed herself awake 30 mins in. Hoping she makes it back to sleep for a bit longer!
TGIF! I've been having a hard time getting up in the morning this week.
But I have a busy weekend ahead. DS is getting baptized on Sunday so tomorrow is all cleaning all the time to prep for everyone coming over after church. My mom and niece are handling the food, so that's great.
MIL keeps asking how she can help. I told DH that I'd love to have her help clean, but I don't want to hear the criticisms regarding our housekeeping or lack thereof. And yes she would criticize those who have a 6 month old, doesn't matter.

I'm kinda anxious about the FB thing. We have such a great dynamic here and I will be devastated if that breaks apart.... But I do sort of enjoy my anonymity here. I'd rather things not change but I think I would never choose to have things change. I would join the FB group defensively if it was the only way to stay in touch with everyone. Hmm. That's not the right way to put it. Sorry I can't really explain. I have a high profile (in its own weird way) job irl and I'd rather keep this a separate thing where I'm just Jensoprano82 a mommy who's trying very hard to keep it all together. Again, I'd rather join than not be in touch though.
Fwiw re: FB group, I'm not planning on joining right now. It's giving me sad feels, like what aggiebug said. That said I do know how to get in touch with some of those in it should this place suddenly dry up - which I really, really don't want it to do. But if it does, y'all will see me on the fbook. And we always have Instagram!
Thanks lilyelayne and @holachica I'm not sure how I feel about the FB group. With starting back at work, it's going to be harder for me to post and keep up in general, and I know I'm not a super often poster as it is. But this group has been a godsend!

I have a head cold and along with E's terrible sleep this week it has been rough. So happy Friday has finally arrived. We're going to visit my parents this weekend and dropping our dogs off up there for them to dogsit because we are flying out to visit H's grandmother in West Virginia next weekend - will be DD's first time on an airplane!
Ladies who have flown with baby before - I bought a case so we can check our car seat but I plan to gate check the stroller. Should I buy some kind of bag for the stroller? Its a Maclaren Techno XT and I'm worried it wont fit in the generic umbrella stroller bag on Amazon but the Maclaren bag is sold out or ridiculously expensive where I've been able to find it.

We could probably have an entire thread dedicated just to all the things there are to love about the Fall and Holidays. Oct-Dec is my favorite time of year! Pumpkin everything, cooler weather, busting out the crock pot, football all weekend, the leaves changing, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the first snow.

Flew from Louisiana to California, with one layover/flight change, with DH, DS, and my parents. I did not bring a stroller (just two wraps and an Ergo haha) but I did gate check the infant carrier with this bag. I'm unfamiliar with your stroller, but maybe the reviews/questions on amazon would help you figure out if it's the right size bag for you. I liked that it had an arm strap, though I imagine you'll be pushing the stroller through the airport for any layovers. DH successfully rolled it up and tucked it back in the attached zipper bag multiple times. I figured the bag wasn't too pricey and it would help protect the carrier. Also the bright red color is nice if you're on a plane that does a lot of gate checked luggage. I fly out of a tiny airport so all roller bag carry ons get gate checked. And Amazon Prime got it to me so fast!

I'm pissed about an etsy review I received. I have over 400 sales and 108 reviews, all of which were 5 out of 5 stars until last night. Here is my 4 star review:
"Loved the agenda/thank you cards for my destination wedding. The size was bigger than I had thought which is actually better. Also, it was very easy to work with Valerie as she accommodated a few edits. Quick response and speedy delivery. I would recommend."
SO THEN WHY DID YOU ONLY GIVE ME 4 STARS?!
I wrote her a message asking why because I'd like to fix whatever problem she had. No response. Grrrrr
