I missed Henry's 3 year pedi appointment. Or I should say that I missed it by an hour. The appointment was at 9:30 and I thought it was 10:30. I confused it with Cece's appointment and was late. The office wouldn't do anything for me. I was in tears, it was my last day of maternity leave and I was already a mess and this just sent me over the edge. I begged the office to fit us in and the girl just gave me a snotty response that she couldn't and the first appointment they could get me was the end of September. Since there's no vaccines I know it's not that big of a deal but I thought the way they treated me was awful and I was almost hysterical.
Apparently my over reaction of crying the way I did in the office scarred Henry because he will remind me that I missed his appointment during random times. Grocery shopping, driving in the car, swimming at my parents house..."hey Mommy, remember when you missed my appointment?"
laurski81, that sucks. I can't believe they weren't more accommodating. it was like 5 minutes with the doctor for us.
I know it. They were just awful to me. The girl was really rude and all I could think was what if I was suffering from PPD or something. To just dismiss a crying, hormonal new mother like that didn't sit well with me.
Speaking of doctors. I wasn't happy with how the ob office handled my loss. And I called a nurse the other day bc I have a pain on my right hip/groin that won't go away. It's probably normal or unrelated, but I needed some reassurance. She wasn't great. So today I'm like F that. I know a freaking OB and his daughter is my best friend. So I called her up today to get a new OB/midwife recommendation. Her dad gave me two names from his office. I Called them up and have an appointment for today. BAM!

Tumaini hasn't been to her three year check up, and Liam will be one next week (!), and his check-up isn't scheduled yet either. Liam has been sick once in a year, and it was after his nine month checkup. I know he caught it during our ridiculous two hour wait to see the pediatrician. It's back to work for me this week, and I'm not risking him getting sick again right now. He's meeting all his milestones, he's happy as can be, I'll call in October and pretend I forgot.
He is getting his vaccines next week though, don't worry. It's not the same office and I wouldn't purposefully delay a vaccine.
I spent $53 at the grocery today and bought nothing but junk. I'm usually all about the healthy, low-sugar, low-sodium, no-fun food, and today I think the cashier was judging me...
It was just an intake appointment but everyone was super nice. I made my next appointment (which is before my appointment with the old place) and I'll get an ultrasound which I wouldn't have gotten at the old place either. So I'm feeling a little better about things. I'll breathe a little easier if the ultrasound goes well.

Did everyone have a no shot 3 year appointment? They scheduled Avery's for September so I could bring both girls in at once. I could have sworn DD#1 had shots at 3. I'd be thrilled if Avery didn't have to get shots. I know Chelsea is good until fifth or sixth grade.
sarahandeddie No shots here. The only shot Henry will get at his rescheduled 3 year appointment is the flu shot. I would have brought him in for that separately but now since the appointment is into the fall I will just have them do it during his appointment so I don't have to come back.

No shots! She is good to go until she gets to kindergarten

Yup after last year they told me she was done until 5.

Yup, I haven't booked a checkup for either kid either. I don't think I took Benjamin for a 2 year one either! I do plan on making one soon though.. That and a dentist appointment! Benjamin has never gone and I've been horrible at brushing Abby's teeth.

After ready the post asking about non-character book bags, I feel like I should confess I bought my DS a Paw Patrol book bag (he loves it and is so excited to go to school and use it). It was only $10 and I'm too cheap to spend more than that on a 3 year olds book bag I don't even know what to put in it other than a change of clothes? Lol

Avery picked Rapunzel. As long as she likes it and it holds up I don't care.

Elena has a Princess backpack and a Cinderella lunch box. Both were on clearance and cost me $8 for both of them!

M has a Dusty planes backpack he got for his 2nd bday that we use, but I saw the Paw Patrol one and almost bought it because he is obsessed. I didn't, but I was very close.
These aren't really confessions...just responding to stuff...
Ingrid had a shot at her 3 year appt -but I don't know what it was for. Flu shot maybe? My H took her so I have no idea, I just know she came home with a bandaid on her arm and couldn't wait to tell me about crying when she got the shot.
Ingrid has all sorts of character stuff. She loves it so why not let her have the things she likes?
Kayleigh doesn't have a character backpack but that is only because she has one from when she turned 2. I was going to get her a Sophia the first one at that point, but H said I should go for the one that looks like an owl (similar to the skiphop ones but from Target) because she probably change her mind on which character she likes each week. If she wants a character one the next time we get one, I'm fine with that.
I don't really care if he has a character backpack but like roo said, he changes his mind all of the time. I would like to spend a little more so he can use it on the airplane, for swimming lessons, etc. and ideally William could use it too later. I did get him a paw patrol lunchbox. He has character sheets and beach towel etc. I just wanted the backpack to last longer.
I have one that happened Friday evening. We ordered pizza from the local place. It's a thin crust pizza and we usually just get canadian bacon. Well Hanna asked if she could pick the meat off and I said yes. She ended up picking off the entire topping and was left with just the super thin crust and of course didn't want to eat it. So I assembled them back together and stuck them back in the box for H to eat.

It's way past Friday but oh well. I think people who are adamantly against character stuff are being silly. Little kids love characters. All sorts of characters. Let them enjoy what they like, whatever it is. My son is 7 and he picked out a Spiderman book bag and lunch box. I love that he still loves those things as do his classmates. In a few years, he will not. I spent $12 on his book bag last year so price is not always indicative of quality. Let kids be kids.
