To cut out a ton of work, how would you feel about just picking some food up? Specifically, do you have an Arby's near you? A lot of times for parties we just bring a crockpot to Arby's, they fill it with roast beef, give you buns and sauces, and voila! Then you can just make some pasta salads and a dip?
Or how about a nacho bar? Just brown some meat and keep that in a crockpot, put some canned nacho cheese in a small crockpot, and put out all the fixins.
My sister & I are going to do a joint birthday for DD & my nephew (he is 11 days older than DD) we'll probably just order pizza but it'll be mostly adults at the party because we'll be coming from out of town and my nephew doesn't go to school yet and doesn't have a lot of friends.
I like mini cupcakes vs. regular sized so I'll push to either have just minis or a mix, I don't think DD needs a full sized cupcake but I'm sort of a sugar freak. We did a mix of both at her party last year and it went over really well, people with younger kids especially seemed to like the option.
I like to buy a lot of those premade appetizers you just have to pop in the oven and dump onto a platter when they're done, and then get a couple of fruit/veggie and meat/cheese trays. For DD's birthday we also made PB&J sandwiches that we cut into shapes using cookie cutters. Large quantities of easy-to-make finger foods are a smart way to go.
This is exactly what I would do. Or just order lots of pizza/take away once everybody has arrived and knows what they want.
We went the last route and ordered sandwiches from Ralph's for DDs bday this year. We did it at a park and I didn't want to put things together before so we did wraps and fruit/veggie trays, then bought chips and cake. Our group was smaller so the cost want horrible.
I love the idea of a sandwich bar or pizza. Definitely don't kill yourself getting food out togther.

Most of the grocery stores here do all sorts of platters, trays, and salads at the deli. If yours does, that could be a good option too. You can usually even place an order, then just pick it up in the morning and you won't even have to do dishes.
Not sure if you are willing to do walmart deli, but their 6ft sub is amazing.. only $32 also! We did it for DS 1st bday. Also added a chicken platter with tenders and popcorn chicken. I think it was $28, and so so so much food. I highly recommend!
Awesome. Thanks for the ideas. I ordered cupcakes, will pick up that morning. Entree will be pulled pork cooked in the slow cooker overnight with Hawaiian rolls. Sides will be veggie and fruit tray. Chips with dip. And maybe pasta salad if I am feeling up to it. Or giant container of prepared cole slaw.
King's Hawaiian rolls are the best. We'd see them in Manila sometimes but they'd be like $20.
