DH is bent on cutting the cable cord. He's researching antennas and services but I thought I'd ask you brilliant ladies for real life user experience. We don't watch network TV but will likely get an antenna for football Sunday/news. For cable channels, we like CNN, HGTV, TLC, Lifetime, cooking/food network, and Nickelodeon or Disney Jr for the little guy. And we usually red box movies.
So tell me, what do you use? What do you watch? Any draw backs?

We got rid of cable last fall and it has worked out great. Now we have an antenna and use Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. DH bought the cheapest antenna he could find and it works with no problems for the occasional times we watch local tv. I am debating dropping Hulu since we don't use it as frequently as the other two.
Yes! We did, and haven't looked back. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Chromecast, and we've got everything we need.
We just went through this is June, maybe? We were going to get these services, maybe not Chromecast. It was cheaper and easier.
We ended up keeping cable only because DH is a master negotiator and talked them into a lower price plus internet. Otherwise we could have cut cable.
Edit: the only drawback we saw was that some shows weren't available as soon as they aired; you have to wait a few days or a week. It wasn't an issue because TiVo catches all our programs and we never watch them live, anyway.

Thanks A 16. I knew you wouldn't disappoint. DH has already ordered an antenna from amazon and I think we're going to get a Roku to try Sling Tv and we'll look into the other options. I'm trying to talk him into trying netflix too since they have a free trial period. He's been very interested in all the responses!
We've been without cable for a few years now and while I miss CNN, if I missed I that much, I'd download the app. I used to have it on for background noise. We have the Roku with Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu and they work great. The best part is that Hulu has continuous play so if you're watching a series, it'll start the next episode automatically. Amazing for me when I was on mat leave and holding a sleeping baby with the remote JUST out of reach.

We cut two years ago. We use bunny ears, Netflix and Hulu on Apple TV. We also use the watch ESPN app with my parents log in for sports. (Yes, I know, bad).
