It's a week long art festival in the Nevada desert. burningman.org
I guess I just don't get it though. Is it a hippy thing? What's the point? Teach me your knowledge!
It used to be a hippy thing to do but, all of a sudden it is a trendy thing to go do since celebrities started showing up. You have to buy tickets to go and the tickets are a couple hundred dollars a piece if not more.
New studies have shown it's OK to wake them actually and it was pretty impossible to not wake him. He had pounced on me trying to save DD from falling off the bed. Bahaha. I am still laughing at him.
I guess you have to outweigh the dangers
ETA: What sources do you use? You always say new studies show things. No snark, just legitimately interested. The scientist in me is curious.
So I he nerd in me has Google news set up to pull relevant new studies from a variety of sources like nejm and such. Or I see a news piece on it and dig into it. I also follow the scibabe on FB and she posts a lot of cool studies etc. (along with a lot of snark about homeopathy)

Not really a hippie thing, though you'll surely find hippies there. More of an art thing. The people who go have all sorts of different jobs and backgrounds and range in age from kids to seniors. Very diverse in that way but sadly, not very racially diverse.
Everyone who goes is a participant, brings some sort of art installation or experience for everyone else. There is no commerce within the event, it is a gift economy. It's a whole surreal city that gets built and and then disappears. It's a lot of fun and hard work and just unlike anything else.
It's definitely not for everyone, but I've greatly enjoyed camping and making and exploring art for a week (and partying hard too.) I went for many years in the early 2000s.
There are lots of photos out there of the gorgeous art people bring. Worth a gander.
Been a nice lazy sunday so far. It was my day to sleep in...good one too, cause LO was up around 6 and DH had to go play with him and feed him. Heheh. Then went to brunch and hit up the farmers market, facetimed with Nana (my mom) and now are just hanging. I need to clean the house at some point, but its too hot to do it with LO on my back, so I'm hoping to get a good 30-40 minute sleep stretch out of him at some point.
My mom had texted moments before that the hospice nurse called and my grandpa had passed. The nurse had called them yesterday so say the end was very near. So before the zoo yesterday we went to visit him. I know he couldn't see her but at least he could hear Quinn again and I could tell him I loved him. So it sucks... But it's sort of a relief to my mom and grandmother too.
So we will see how things work out this week.
So sorry to hear about your Grandpa. Thats wonderful though that you were able to see him and bring Quinn so close to his passing.
My 4 year old niece is visiting today. It's been fun bc she and DD1 play well together. We went to the splash pad this morning which was great. This afternoon I think we'll eat ice cream cones outside.
LO has her two bottom teeth working their way up. The gum is thinning out so hopefully not much to longer.
Cloe - sorry about your grandfather. That's great that you were able to say goodbye.

Woke up feeling even sicker than I have been for the past few days so DH let me sleep in. After running to Target and grocery store DD and I took a nap on the couch, and I'm thinking we're going to spend the rest of the being just as lazy.
Got home a couple hours ago. It seems to be completely out, but now that the local has worn off, my leg is super sore. It was a good size chunk, so at least I didn't go for something little.

My friends' 9 month is coming over shortly so we can watch her while our friends go out to dinner. We're paying them back for doing the same for us. I'll admit, I'm a little nervous to watch two babies.

I keep thinking I'm ready to keep DS and my two nephews (3 & 2) and then being like HAHA no.

I saw this too! I temember it was on "i f*cking love science" on facebook. I sheepishly admit thats where most of my sciencey type info
Just got home from a baby shower for a good friend of mine. We didn't really know anyone else there and DH and I were just lamenting that all our conversations felt really awkward. Like we've lost the ability for small talk. It was hard to tell if it was us or everyone else, but I'll assume it's us. So weird, glad to be home.

Tl:dr tweaked my knee. Need to go to the dr. What to do with S?
I've tweaked my knee sometime within the last week and it has progressively gotten more sore and painful. I believe I may have to break down and go to the dr and have it looked at. I've been icing and elevating to no avail. Now my delimma is what to do with S. I never fooled with getting a PCP since we moved mid pregnancy and I was just going to my OB for everything, so I'm going to have to go to a walk in clinic. I DNW to take him in there and have him catch something. Especially since he's still getting over his cold. If I have somebody watch him I get 2hrs max before he's hungry again. Ugh... Now would be a great time for my baby to be able to take a bottle.

That sucks, hollydfromtn. Would someone be available during the day? I'm thinking that hopefully it won't be too busy at say, 10am. You can feed him just before you go and maybe by time you get back he'll be ready for his next feeding. Orrr could they feed him a little solids to hold him over?

That's what I'm kind of thinking too. I'm going to try my best to be there when they open, so that I can hopefully be in and out.
The wedding last night was great. It was a surprise to see our friends actually had the same minister there who married DH and I 4 years ago!
Also, we had to drop the crib down lower today since I left B to play in there after her nap while I put laundry away. Good thing I was watching the monitor since she was working on pulling herself up. By the time I reached her room she was standing up looking over the side. I'm so not ready for my baby to be doing these big kid things… *tear*

Well, we survived babysitting! The little girl had separation anxiety when her parents left, but she did end up warming up. I think overall it went well. There were a couple times when she started crying, which made DS start crying for absolutely no reason. I don't know how people with twins do it.

When V's 18 mo cousin stays crying, V almost always joins in. It makes it very difficult to calm either one of them!
